Well, for the first time since being diagnosed 3 months ago I think I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. My wife was trying to tell me something on the phone and I was hyperfocused on the computer and instead of getting angry when I "wasn't all there", she said, Derek, stop what you are doing and listen. I am so proud of her for being understanding and supportive so I want to encourage all of you to be understanding with the non-ADD people in your life when they don't understand. I hope you all have a light at the end also. I felt like I was in the dark the last 3 months.

I got a call at 8:30am this morning. My Dr was out sick and I could not see her today and with my travel schedule I can't get in to see her until 3/1. So, I guess we'll see then. But, the Pats did win. Ty for asking.

That's a definite start!
Ideally I would have wanted something like a "honey... are you with me? Hello? is there anyone home? Helloooooo...hello hello... You will give me a hundred dollars... if you do not say a word then you have agreed with me!"
Humor really helps lighten up the situation and it's something I hope my family will pick up on more. On this note, I still receive the "you're lazy but at least you're smart".
I try to focus on the "I'm smart, but I occassionally require time management" aspect of what they're TRYING to say. I'm glad I'm past the screaming and threats and that they were minimal.

Haaa....I love this thread. My poor dh constantly tries and gets my attention. The computer is my hyper-focusing problem too. He will usually put his hand in front of my face to get my attention. He used to try and talk to me but I would be soooo into what I was doing that he would startle me like you wouldn't believe and I would be mad. Now we just deal with the bad with humor as best as we can :)
