Do any of you ADDers enjoy the ever-changing, stimulation that ADD has to offer?
I do, mostly. I hear a lot of the problems it causes and in good humor mostly. But doesn't it seem worth it in some ways? I think some of my smarts is ADD related as I can see more variety, options, angles. Variety is the spice of life! Well thats what they say. So ADDers are a spicy bunch.

Can you elaborate on some of the positive thing you enjoy becuase of ADD

Totally agree Janine. More variety, options and angles....that give us our smarts....well put...:) I find that's true for me too....there are definitely GOOD sides.....I probably have a much better personality simply because of my ADD....in terms of friendliness, sympathy, compassion, empathy, listening skills, etc. and ability to think outside the box....

Joan, I agree I enjoy those attributes too. Gary, here are some reasons I think ADD to be a bonus in life.
As a musician, I get to be off the wall personality wise. Also it helps to have so many feelings accessible to be because of my ramblings in my brain that I can twist lots of emotions into my music. I also feel very sensitive to what someone else is feeling or trying to communicate through their music so that I can compliment their statements. I read classically as well and that tames my brain sometimes as the bottom line is a strong guide, and then if I am on top of it musically I can also employ my emotional interpretation.
As a mother I feel the up side with creativity, seeing so many angles to a situation allows me to to be fairer perhaps, but at the same time it can hinder good disapline.
My brain entertains me and keeps me from being married 6 x's as would probably be the case if I was lonely or bored.
Mostly I am a high stimulation sort and since my brain is so over working it keeps me from more dangerous thrill seeking activities.
As a child I was hyper more than most knew. I had my brain to fill in the gaps when people wouldn't understand my jumping off the roof etc.. ( I hated to be misunderstood or not trusted) I used to have hiccups during math class, the teacher would ask me to leave for water as I was disturbing the class. I would then run around the large school buildind once or twice and feel much more focused. I could and still can endure hours of strenuous physical activity, once I get started.
Does ADD give everyone more mental and/or physical energy? Or do you think that it is wearing more often?
I think that the more you take notice of things the more life force one can recieve from it's beauty or message. (Channeling it may be the hard part.)

I rip houses apart and rebuild them to keep me occupied

Love changing things in a house

Gary, I am good at the ripping apart part! Wish I could do/finish the rebuilding part!

Its easy look at the whole job and break it down into little parts

I have about 6 unfinished projects ie: kitchen,bathroom,computer room, outside driveway, tool room

all jobs are fully functional just not finished

It gives me the flexabillity to work on one for a while then when I get bored or run out of material or money then I can go back to one of the other projects

Ill have it all done by christmas

Then Ill have to buy another house to keep me busy (not)

my wife would kill me
