View Full Version : ADD and the song in my head syndrome
capt kylos 02-11-05, 10:14 AM Anybody else out there get a song stuck in your head and you just cant seem to get rid of it. Now that I have been watching my 2 year old daughter during the day, it is the childrens songs from the TV and movies that she watches sometimes that get stuck in my brain. The more songs I am exposed to the worse it gets. ARRRGH!!! Capt Kylos
free2bme 02-11-05, 10:22 AM I RELATE TO THAT BIGTIME!!!!
I think I spent two years with the Blue's Clues tune in my brain. Lately, it's Little Bill. I LOVE LITTLE BILL!!!!!!
On the adult front...the song currently stuck in my head is "Nobody" by John Ondrasik. And anything ever written and/or sung by THE DON.
vegansoprano 02-11-05, 10:42 AM I can totally relate. Doesn't help that I'm a classically trained musician. Meds help to turn down the volume on my "soundtrack of life", but nothing gets rid of it completely. At least I don't have kids yet, so I don't get stuck with the themes from Blue's Clues and Sesame Street running through my head every day.
Still Waters 02-11-05, 10:45 AM For me it's the Backyardigans, my daughter's favorite. Nick Jr is a constant in my house, but then I catch myself singing the songs hours later folding towels at work and look around to see if anyone's noticed :)
neuroangel 02-11-05, 11:14 AM I love the backyardigan's. I babysit a 1 year old that watches it, so I get that tune stuck in my head all the time. :)
Occasionally I will get a fantastic song like 'We are the Champions' stuck in my head for days or one-two weeks until I can't stand the song anymore. :/ Oh well.

Not only is it stuck in my head I keep breaking into singing the part that's stuck..Like from the commercial, Daisy Sour Cream, do you all know this one? My kids will hear it and run to change the channel..... :D
" A dollop, a dollop...... of daisyyyyyyyyyy"
Thorkitty 02-11-05, 01:45 PM I get some song that I listened to during the day sometime in my head later when I am not listening to music anymore. The cool part about the song in the head syndrom with me is that I can change them at will most of the time. Like a Jukebox.
Prairiewind 02-11-05, 08:09 PM Yep, every morning. I wake up to the radio and even if the volume isn't turned up very loud my brain records it. At the moment, the current hit by U2. The commercial I REALLY HATE is the "Gottagogottagogottago right now, gottagottagogottago......
But sometimes it's something fun the Oscar Meyer song:)
jerry83 02-12-05, 06:02 AM But isn't it normal for the songs to get stuck in your head? I mean, don't non-ADD people get that too?
capt kylos 02-12-05, 10:55 AM I am shure that everybody gets a song stuck in your head from time to time but maybe us ADD'ers are more sensitive to it. Just a thought. Capt Kylos
Could be like a mantra to help calm and focus.
ARRRRGHHH!!! the last few days its been the theme from the flintstones :o
it usually aint too bad until i start singing it out loud
i would hate to think thats my mantra for life
i do believe that nonADDers have this happen to them also--one of the non-such nurses at work expressed frustration from just such an affliction last week :D
Yes, I too get songs or theme songs stuck in my head. Not children songs but everyday songs u hear on the radio.
motorbrain 02-16-05, 01:54 AM Certain sounds bug me. To the degree that they used to make me angry.
Fork on plate repeatedly being tapped... A metal spoon in a metal glass stirring a thick drink. Believe me there are many others...
But nothing quite sets me off like getting the Love Boat theme stuck in my head for a good couple of weeks.
'I don't want to be lonely any more' by Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty).
Why? Your guess is as good as mine. I heard it at 5PM last night.
armyrebel4 02-16-05, 06:28 AM Lots and lots of country music lol.
