I just can't figure this out, do you think the adderall would make opiate WD worse by making it more intense?? or help some?? any thoughts or anyone that has had experience with this would be of great help. thanks Kim

I can't see it making it better. Not something I'd want to find out firsthand. I've felt mild withdrawl from opiates - used to take a moderate amounts of codeine years ago - and don't want to again. abre los ojos 03-14-05, 12:59 AM Opiates and amphetamines intensify the effects of one another. stanzen 03-17-05, 08:18 PM Amphetamines don't help with opiate WD, not at all. The last thing you want is to be awake and wide-eyed for the festivities. Unconsciousness is best or detox with another, different opiate. I've had much too much experience with this, but --thank Jupiter and Kronos-- not in 16 years. mindash 09-03-08, 11:47 PM well personally i was taking roughly 200mg of hydrocodone a day then ran out and got my adderall prescription filled, low and behold the opiate withdrawl has been alleviated altho im a little more awake for the hour than i should be, i noticed that the adderall upon first dose after not taking it for a while caused all that backed up constipation to evacuate in turn making me feel alot better, i've used adderall once also in the past to come off of painkiller dependancy. i dont reccomend using it for this kind of offlable purpose but am just speaking through my own personal experience (im on adderall right now and should be on day 2 of a moderate to severe opiate detox and guess what, im not) i think all the dopamine it fires off compensates for the lack of endorphines due to the opiate usage but im not a doctor so dont qoute me ozchris 09-04-08, 12:46 AM It'll help if you usually take adderall for treatment of ADD or whatever, just stick to your usual dose if that's the case. What opiate are you withdrawing from? That can make a difference on whether it'll help or not. Methadone takes a long time to withdraw from whereas something like heroin will be quicker and more intense. For someone who's not used to taking amphetamines, it probably wouldn't help. I've heard of someone taking methamphetamine while withdrawing and they claimed it helped but I personally couldn't think of anything worse. If you can get any benzos or sleeping pills they'd probably come in handy. phenyl 09-12-08, 03:16 PM amphetamines can go either way when taken while withdrawing from opiates - A dose of amphetamines large enough to cause clearly noticeable euphoria will make you feel better. A dose too small to cause euphoria will make you feel worse. Option number one will cause life to really suck when the come down happens, though. I have experience with this, unfortunately. |
