I've been taking reg. Ritalin for the past four months. For the last two months I was taking about 60mgs a day. I ran out and asked my pdoc for a couple weeks worth of Adderall (immediate realease) until my next appointment (my next visit with him is in early March).

He told me to be careful, that Adderall is stronger than Ritalin. He prescribed 30mgs a day in 10mg tablets. He said I could break 'em in half if I needed to.

This Adderall is right different than the R. It takes an hour before it does anything and 3 or 4 hours before it wears off. Not as much of a rollercoaster as R. It's also less noticable, more subtle, but the dosage eludes me.

Yesterday, I popped 5 mg pieces every half hour in the morning to about 20mgs, expecting something dramatic to happen. Instead, I felt focused, upbeat, balanced and calm. Today I tried 15 before breakfast and 15mgs before lunch. So far, so good.

My questions: how did you find the correct dose with Adderall?

I guess I'm impatient. Ritalin slaps you upside the head when you try too much and it was obvious when it wore off or didn't work.

Also, anybody notice cross-tolerance between Adderall and Ritalin?

I couldn't imagine taking 30mgs of this Adderall before my body became accustomed to Ritalin.

Cheers,

Mee

You say you are a recovering drug addict ... be careful .... are you looking for this drug to make you feel better when you ask what to expect .

When I asked what to expect, I was looking for info on how long before Adderall takes effect (after you take it), how long it lasts, what kinds of problems, side effects to look out for.

Feedback from Ritalin is very fast and noticable. I was taken by surprise with Adderall, because it's subtle, and my doctor didn't give me much advice how it might affect me.

As for feeling better; any drug that messes with Dopamine may hit your pleasure centers. That's fine, Pleasure Centers are a good thing (I wish a few would open up in my neighborhood- LOL) however, chasing that hit is a hopeless race with any drug. I am not chasing a buzz, at least not for today.
