Along with ADHD, I was diagnosed with high functioning autism. This complicates matters greatly for me. For one, ritalin and dexedrine stimulate some of my autism symptoms so I can't socialise at all when I'm on it. This is a problem for college. Anyone else have this issue?

Ritalin makes me chatty but also more socially anxious about saying the wrong thing. I learnt all the social rules and to not talk about my special interests. Thing is when I can't talk about that there is little else I can. I tend to drink alcohol when I'm with people too. I don't recommend that.

I'm going off it anyway and back to the untalkative unfocused person I always was. Not to mention the sensory sensitivity.

Is socialising really that important? Shouldn't your studies come first? I've been a victim of my own obsessions about socialising. At the end of the day I think it's just too much trouble for little gain.

The ADHD can mask the HFA traits, so Ritalin unmasks them.

Enjoy your HFA traits, there are some really good ones to be savoured. Studying for one could be a lot easier, even if socializing is harder.

Try to listen to your inner needs and traits and embrase them. I've found that the ones who do this are a lot happier than the ones trying to fight their disabilities.
