My psychiatrist back home did not know any one to refer me to in FL.
I am hoping to get into see any Dr. (GP or otherwise) in the area ASAP so as to not have a lapse in medication.
Any suggestions please let me know or send private message.
I am in North Palm Beach area, but will travel for a decent Dr. that I can get in to see fairly quickly.
Thank you.

I don't know about the West Palm Beach area specifically, but if you contact your insurance company they should be able to give you a list of preferred providers for various services in your area. They can give you a list of preferred providers for both GPs and psychiatry specifically.

If your insurance lets you self-refer, you can make an appointment with a psychiatrist without having to be referred by a GP first. They usually take a while to schedule appointments with, often a month or longer. This is especially true if they accept Medicaid. Getting an appointment with a GP will probably be faster, and if your insurance will not let you self-refer to a specialist then you'll have to go that route anyway. The GP might write you the scripts for ADHD meds themselves, or might require you to be referred to a psychiatrist, depending on their particular practice.

A concern my psychiatrist from home voiced was that especially in S. Florida, doctors tend to scare away from prescribing adderall. She said she would gladly send my records. Any yes, my fears are finding a Dr. and being able to get in quickly! I hate moving! Trying to find new "everything"!

Anywhere there is a really strong crime/drug presence, they are going to be hesitant to prescribe Adderall, and South Florida definitely qualifies. Especially because of the abundance of universities in South Florida, where black market sales of Adderall are an issue anyway. Having your records sent to your new doctor's office will help a lot. Get the list of preferred providers from your insurance, that should help you find a new doctor quickly. Good luck!

I am in a very similar situation you are in.

I used to see a Doctor here in WPB before I lived in Chile for 3 years, then when I moved back I found out he wasn't prescribing it anymore.

I'm really busy moving and settling in and taking classes so I hope I don't have to pay for several consults until I found a Dr that can continue my medications (I'd obviously bring a previous medical record indicating the years I've taken the medication)

So if you find a Dr, or if anyone knows a Dr in WPB or cities close to WPB that is reliable for medication management.... Please chip in.
