Hey everyone!.
Newbie here. I have been reading the posts for awhile now, and decided to join you guys..and gals. I have to say, I have learned more about medications, diagnoses, side effects than my Doc ever told me. Thank you. Now a med question. I am currently taking 30 mg spansules in the am. nothing in the pm. Crashing around 4:00. Ya think I should start taking the regular pills instead of the spansules for better delivery? I am taking the Barr brand currently, and will be switching to either the name brand or a good generic. My doc will basically give me whatever doseage I want in any form I want. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Mach.

I haven't tried spanules, but I did try Adderall XR. What I like best about the immediate Dexedrine is that I can play around and find the best schedule. For instance, yesterday I took my second dose after only 3.5 hours (instead of four) and found it was a really smooth transition. Every body's body is different.

I got onto immediate release dexedrine because the other types were all sold out. I really like it because I can control my dosage better.

I prefer the immediate release too. I take it three times a day, sometimes skipping the last dose if I feel I don't need it (or forget to take it!). I really don't understand why a person would want to take sustained release, but a mix of the two would make sense.

Well, sweetie--you never met me, but my neuroshrink has been practicing since the 60s, so this should give you a fairly good impression of how f***ed up I was:
He said "You're one of the worst cases of memory loss and cognitive confusion yet exceptional intelligence I've ever seen. ( ) You're an oddity, Chrys, that's for sure." Now that, right there, is a bad sign!
I forgot how to tie my shoes at times.
Seriously.
And that is why I am not trusted (by myself or anyone else) to take meds correctly and consistently except for when they're in the morning and at night.
That is why a person would want to take Dex time-release! :)
We're all very happy with the improvement, but still, the spansules are working, so there's no need to mess with it (in my case, I mean.)
Just thought I'd give you an example...;)

I can see how time release mechanisms such as OROS or spansules & whatnot could be helpful for those who doubt their self-control.

I was being a bit facetious - I totally understand why a person would want to take spansules, as I often forget to take my meds. But I would always want some immeadiate release too - so useful for "filling in" when the spansules would last too long.

Not so much self-control as self-function, I'm afraid! :)

Yeah, I do crash pretty badly at the end of the day when I've been doing a ton of homework and nothing sedentary, brain wise (like...oh, the past 7 hours.) It's probably gonna hit me--BOOM--tonight and I'll be down for the count, but that's ok, 'cause for a while there I just couldn't *******' sleep at all.
