View Full Version : I'm a teen and think I have Attention Deficit Disorder fek123 07-20-03, 11:28 PM i think i have add, i never get my homework done, i get distracted easily, i get pretty hyper, but i dont know how to confront my parents about it, any suggestions?? Garry 07-21-03, 06:41 AM Read and learn Take your time before you talk to them have a very informed conversation with them Lots of help here with lots of caring people joanrdtobe 07-21-03, 11:13 AM Fek: Welcome to the Forums...You are writing in the Teens Only forums...are you okay with us adults answering to your threads??:) In any event, you are very young. It is okay not to totally get it yet if you have ADD...Is there a special teacher or counselor at school you feel you can trust? Perhaps you can talk to this person before you talk to your parents....OR do you have a fear talking to your parents about possibly having ADD? Like they won't accept you or believe you? If so that is understandable. Perhaps you could do some reading first about ADD...and then be able to present those readings as well to your parents when you do confront them....Thanks for writing...and please keep writing and let us know how you're doing....:) fek123 07-21-03, 05:12 PM My mom doesnt seem to believe me when i tell her. I showed her a screening test online and it said i have add, she still doesnt believe me.... Tara 07-21-03, 05:51 PM Is there another adult you can talk to like a relative or family friend? joanrdtobe 07-21-03, 07:00 PM Well, you tried your mom. Have you tried your dad? OR any siblings you could possibly talk to? SkatingADDict 10-11-03, 05:12 PM well my mom was the one that told ME i had ADD so i dont know what to tell you... but just wait and your parents will eventually notice that you have okay? later! ben 01-20-04, 02:00 PM i did some research and found symptoms of add. then I showed it to my mom. when she saw it she was pretty much convinced. sixes 01-24-04, 09:17 AM Good for you Ben, I am glad she was open minded enough to at least look and listen to whatyou were showing her. How are you doing now? Are you gonna get some help for it? |
