Would warm water tub bathing be recommended for calming down?

It definately helps me. I find that any water in general calms me down. I love swimming, especially in lakes or rivers.

10 minutes of a hot shower is worth about an hours worth of sleep.

I find that reading a book while in a hot bath is immensely relaxing. The sound of the water running drowns out other noises, the shower curtain and steam rising helps to reduce my visual field to very small area, and sinking into the warmth is very, very, very soothing.

I also love my daily morning HOT shower for similar reasons. It's not as soothing as being prone in the tub, but it does provide a quiet and energizing way to start the day. In fact, I often joke that I get only one good idea a day, and it occurs to me while in the shower... And, that actually, is no joke!

Psychologists back in the day used sensory deprivation tanks to eliminate external stimuli and see how the mind reacts to it. These tanks were basically sound proof bath tubs with water temperature that was neither hot nor cold. And salinity was high to make you naturally bouyant. If ADHD is an inability to manage external stimulus', then removing could theoretically help relieve the stress/anxiety of stimuli overload. So a nice relaxing bath could be helpful, even theraputic for an ADDer. Just a theory folks, don't start calling me SFlaPierRat79 Ph.d

i shouldnt post in here cause im not male, but i also find hot baths very relaxing, and i also find the spa really relaxing. i refer to them both as my "water therapy session".

i know that my boyfriend likes water very much, and he swims a lot (hes very very fast....), and he has REALLY hot showers (hey - dont ask me how i know!).

so yes, conclusively, water is relaxing.

I take baths when I am stressed out. Water is very calming effect on people. Just think back to being inside your mother. I know ya dont remember but there was not stress in there really right. When my sinus are bothing me I head for a hot shower. The moist heat really helps....my therapist recommended taking my shower be fore I talked to her when I was in the hospital before our sessions.I was more in a wise mind state.

Definately.

When I lived with my dad a few years back, he had a hot tub. I sat in it almost every night for about 30 mins. It put me in a nice relaxed state and that helped with sleep. I may be getting a hottub next week! *crosses fingers* :)

My boyfriend who had ADD loves the bath. He will be in the tube for hours at a time. HOURS... He feels it relaxes him.

I take a warm bubble bath almost every night. I love it, it is very relaxing, and renews me. Nothing like it after a tough day.
