Does anyone find that when they take Dexedrine, their face becomes HUGE?? That seems to happen to me.

Taking dexedrine can sometimes turns my normally good looking male face into a shapeless, unrecognizable blob of Play-Doh half an hour after taking the pills.

It seems like slightly high blood sugar, and the slightest dehydration are the two things that cause this when I am on dexedrine. I've gone for a 20 minute walk, and come back with my face suddenly puffed up. It seems that if I restrict myself to not eating any sweets (fruit is fine though) the puffiness is reduced. If I drink a hot chocolate or two in a day, though, the cheeckbones completly dissapear, my cheeks are puffy, I have jowls all of a sudden.....it sucks.

Does anyone else suffer from this problem? Is there any practical way to stop it besides the ways I"ve figured out?

Not heard of this before. It sounds quite odd. An allergic reaction perhaps? I'd mention this to your doctor. The hair loss too - they are likely related, but that's just a guess.
Good luck,
Greg

Funny, I have never seen it posted before, but I too experience a puffy face when I take Dexedrine. It could perhaps be an allergic reaction, but I was trying to do research on it's effects on cortisol levels - if it increases cortisol levels, could it case someone to momentarily develop symptoms of excess cortisol (such as a puffy face?)

Sounds like cortisol. Stimulants release Norepinephrine, which stimulated the adrenal glands to release cortisol. Corticosteriods can cause water retention.

I have the same problem - puffiness - also with a bit of red, facial inflamation (rosaciea?) as my doctor called it. These symptoms only occur when I take the fully prescribed amount (30mg). At 25mg the puffiness and redness are somewhat reduced; at 20mg it's not very noticeable at all.

According to the doc, there are several options for treating this, from prescription topical creams (sorry, don't remember the names) to common antibiotics (tetracycline, amoxicillin, et al). However, he suggested I try low dose (81 mg) asprin; 2-3x/day.

I'm actually disregarding his advice and taking a few regular 325mg Bayer tablets (living on the edge!) and it's doing the trick. Inflammation and redness are MUCH reduced.
