NEW ANTIMANIA INDICATION SOUGHT FOR ABILIFY
Bristol-Myers Squibb and Otsuka Pharmaceutical have filed a supplemental new drug application (sNDA) for Abilify for treating acute mania in patients with bipolar disorder. FDA approved Abilify (aripiprazole) as a schizophrenia treatment in November. The sNDA filing is based on efficacy and safety data from four trials that showed Abilify was superior to placebo in symptom improvement.
