1.) I have a resume in front of me to apply for a job I think I would love.

2.) I already have a job I love.

3.) I love change and variety... How to decide?

My present job is creative, friendly, comes with good benefits, I can take days off when we are not busy. I get paid holidays and statutory holidays. I have extended medical and health insurance. The buy us lunch regularly, do Christmas up great, give bonuses and treat us very well. We are just getting into the busy season, so I would feel bad giving notice when they have been so good to me.
However, I have to commute for an hour at each end of the day over a fairly dangerous highway. I work inside an old building without earthquake standards in an earthquake Zone. I react to the dust and molds. I don't make much money; I am gone from home for 11 hours total to make 7.5 hours worth of pay.

The new job (if I got it) would probably pay more, and it comes with a house (freahly painted and carpeted) & utilities, meat and milk. I would work outside in the fresh air. There is a variety of tasks at different times and places; working with machinery and animals. I have a friend who works there and she says they are good employers. There would be occasional work for hubby, when he is laid off for season.
However, there wouldn't be benefits like extended medical, paid holidays etc. There would be no days off at random. I'd be starting at the bottom again. There would be night work (but I'd be living right there). It is a life style job. Farm work.

How do I decide what to do? Which would be best for my family? Do I send the resume, and see what happens, then decide?

What would you do?

Good choice. You never lose anything by just applying for a job. Nobody will force you to take it. :) Now, the hard part comes when you actually get the job... hehe.

It's a dairy farm job. I used to do this years ago, now there is an opening on the farm where a friend works.

I wait, chewing my fingernails to bits...

It sounds interesting. I need a job with no stress. I don't mind working hard as long as I am not frazzled and feel like I am under the gun.

I am a fan of Western, and think to myself many times it would be nice to work out among the mountains and the plains and away from everything. I just have no experience:(

Sometimes the farm work is good: great mornings, good people, happy animals.
And sometimes it is cold, miserable and dangerous.
But a job has to be interesting, challenging and different all the time for me to want to stay with it.
What I worry about is monotony; I don't do that well. Then I get that crawly feeling under my skin, like I want to jump out of it! I am not good at staying with anything for years and years. Others seem to do this no problem.
My present job, while I like it a lot, is becoming very predictable. I enjoy the feeling of competence that being able to do it well gives me. But sometimes I just wanna scream! Nothing to do with the job, just the way I am.

Anyone else have this problem?

No new job. Young guy with pregnant wife and toddler got it. Guess he needed it more than me. I already have a job; just thinking of changing. He had no job.

But, I did try!! (looks proud) Not so scary next time.
