Hey,

Since I've been on Adderall I've been sleeping a little better, but I haven't been able to sleep deeply since my freshman year in college ('94/'95). I have:

almost given up alcohol
switched my afternoon perk to half-caf
stopped eating/drinking two hours before bed
started wearing a sleep mask and ear plugs
taken up working out several times a week
stopped doing mentally stimulating things before bed
(not to mention saying the Rosary).
What's left? I go to sleep rather easily, but am a very light sleeper and very lucid dreamer - and prone to nightmares - so even when I sleep all night, I rarely feel rested.

I don't want to take more prescriptions, and OTC drugs like Simply Sleep work somewhat, but they aren't good for you. Can anyone recommend a non-drug therapy or supplement for specifically deeper sleep?

Thanks!

You may want to consider having a Sleep Study done. you could possibly suffer from Undiagnosed Sleep Apnea. With this diagnosis it is difficult for persons to fall into a deep sleep. It is a lack of oxegenation to the brain. Do you sleep better sitting up...like in a chair, on the couch etc.?
Try increasing your Vitamin B-6 which is good for stress reduction. You could just be over stressed.
If you have insurance most insurance companies pay for Sleep Studies. And it could be beneficial.
Treatment: The treatment for Sleep Apnea is NON MEDICINAL. They will give you a Bi-Pap or a C-Pap machine. It is basically a device that you wear at night when you sleep over the nose and mouth area that forces oxegenation of the brain and blood stream. Look into it. And get that Vitamin B-6 increased....happy dozing :)

Do you sleep better sitting up...like in a chair, on the couch etc.?I actually can't sleep sitting up at all.

I got some B6, I've heard in the past it's good for nerves. I used to be on Lexapro and slept great (hey, I couldn't do anything else  ), so it might be nerves.

I'll have to look into a sleep clinic. It probably sounds worse than it is.
