I was dx with bipolar one about two years ago. My GP was quick to dx me, I don't know how I feel about that. Then I went on a manic rage, broke up with fiancÚ , was hospitalized for a few weeks. I think I am pretty stable now, but not where I would like.

I recently learned about connection with add and bp. I had a lot of symptoms as a kid. I got bored so easily because it was easy. I would go through 4 or five coats a year. I had a very short temper (litteraly fought kids every day). I also lost my sister in a car accident and my other sister ran away at age 15, parents divorced. I'm kinda getting off track here.

I have had trouble getting motivated, I can hear people talking to me, but it feels like my brain shuts down. My legs are constantly bouncing. My memory is pretty bad, mostly short term it seems. I also have trouble focusing.

My typical day is I sleep ALOT. My psyciatrist upped my dosage of amitrip to 150 and it works great, (sleep 8 hours and refreshed) but I read its not indicated with one of my other drugs. Like I said earlier I feel somewhat stable, but all I do is lay on couch or go to my appointments.

I'm beginning to wonder if I was misdiagnosed, or I have both bp/add

I see my therapist on Monday and psyciatrist wed. What should I talk to them about?

Here is current list of meds
Depakote 500mg twice day
Seroquel 50mg XR
Pristique 50mg
Amitriptyline 150mg before bed
Clonazapam 1mg morning 1/2 lunch 1mg evening
One a day vitamens

I also don't drink or smoke if that is relevant.

Thanks

I don't think there's enough information in your post to know for sure but yes you can have both.

I sometimes wonder what is bipolar and what is ADHD. I'm able to separate the symptoms much easily now that I've had a lot of time to think about it and analyze my own behaviour but I understand it can be a very confusing thing when you first come to the realization that you may have another disorder on top of the other one.

How can a psyc diagnose it?
I'm sure they have a hard time too

Stimulants must be used with caution when treating someone with BP and ADHD. With that said, I am BPII and have taken stimuants for roughly 8 years.
