View Full Version : Boy Do I feel Stupid!

I have been posting a lot of poems and responding to a lot people's poems on a poetry site lately. Well anyway, I comment a couple times on this one girl's poetry, kind of sad stuff. I comment on this one sad poem about tears and said to the girl that I hope she gets through her mourning and pain and told her I had a poem called He Sees Your Tears. Well she commented back saying thanks for the kind words and that she had met a nice guy recently that she really liked, in a way that seemed like she thought I was interested her in a way that was more than just a poet(those weren't her exact words).

I felt stupid. Never my intention at all to come accross that way. Boy, commuication when it is only online can be misunderstood!!

You live, you learn! :)

Has anyone had a similar misunderstanding online?

As a side note, I think a bunch of the people who post on this poetry side have ADD noticing the frequency that they post.

James: I remember that thread and her postings and your postings....I'm not sure she meant you were the person to whom she was referring her interest....Do you know what I think? I think that by telling you that she met a guy recently that she really liked -- that she was telling you that she was doing better, was okay, and was sort of "getting over" her painful situation. She was telling you she appreciated your kind words very much and that someone nice came into her life -- and isn't that a nice and happy ending? :) That's how I interpreted her words anyway.

Oh, I see, I didn't know that. Well Good luck to both of you.

Long distance relationships can be hard. My wife and I were long distance the majority of the time before we were married, though not cross country. She was in San Diego and I was in San Jose, about 500 or so miles apart. And we did have a year where she was an exchange student in Costa Rica for a year. This was from 1989 to late 1992. So this was before the widespread use of email. It seemed only computer nerds and engineering techno people had email then. So we had to depend on snail mail and phone calls....Even phone calls to Costa Rica!! Those were expensive!! We also had visits back forth between San Jose and San Diego. It was especially convenient in the early stages for me because my sister also went to UC San Diego, so I was "going to see my sister" :) in the beginnning stages of our courtship.

Why am I going on about this? I guess, if it is meant to be for you two, the long distance barrier will not be a barrier and you will make it together. I wish you both well!

Thanks James. No we haven't talked about us much here on forums. I've wanted people here to know me just as "Joan" and not part of "Dan and Joan".....but anyway, yes, he's been "my man". We met here on forums actually when he answered a thread of mine and then another whole situation actually brought us together for our first date...:) We met in person for the first time while I was still in school in California. It was just less than three months ago....he had a trip planned to Spokane, Washington to visit his aunt and grandmother and then he got back on the plane and flew down to Southern Cal. to see me...it was great....And then he came to visit a few times after that...and he recently was in Tampa as well...so it's been great. And yes the long distance has been a real pain...no doubt...but anyway, he's actually my first "in-person friend" with ADD....:) But we do have differences so no for me it's not meant to be a "forever" thing....:( But I'm grateful to him because he's the first decent relationship I've ever had and he's a real sweetie and has been real good to me:)
