i'm really not sure what to call my condition. it doesnt really fit the descriptions of add/adhd but i wasnt sure wherelse to ask. i have a concentration problem, not mentally but physically. i have no problem thinking other than i think too much. i generally catch everything said even when my mind is elsewhere and have no problem comprehending. its not that i'm hyper but rather just the opposite. i'm way too patient and prefere sitting in silence. my problem is that i cant applie what i think physically. i have a hard time sitting down and writing down my homework. generally i already have it done in my head and when i can get myself to write i just spit out what i've already had planned out sorta like mozart in that there is no pause to think and no corrections made. i simply cant get myself to physically do anything. i end up sitting staring into space thinking things out rather than do anythiong useful.
i dont think this is add but i havent a clue what it is. all i know is its a problem and i need to find out what it is so i can fix it. any ideas? thanks in advance.

Hi jin,
A lot of the symptoms your describing do in fact sound a lot like ADD. There are many forms of ADD, inattentive, hyperactive are just two of them. There is an online test at Bigs place (http://www.bigsplace.com) were you can take an online quiz to at least give you an idea of whether ADD could be your issue.
good luck,

yeah that DOES sound alot like add.
thats one of the big things which they dont "list" in the medical things... you have wonderful ideas in your head, which you can't say or write!

i gotta check out that link!
Hey Jin have you tried "thinking out loud" into a recorder of some sort?
( I haven't tried this myself, it just popped into my head when I read your post)
I know what you mean about not being able to write things down even tho they're in your head.

unsure, this does sound like add ,but you said some things that might make me wounder im no doctor just a parent with a adhd adult, mis diagnosed add son with asbergers who infact is asbergers and my self with full blowen add and some of the traits that you mentioned along with my sons asbergers . you said you comprehend all that is said ,this is hard for add folks becuase im distracted to all conversations but could not repeat what they said a momement later. you also pointed out you that you can figure or solve problems in your head but have dificulty putting them on paper or to action. you might want to do some reading on asbergers syndrume high functioning autism all to often teachers are dx students with add when infact its something else like asburgers.. Bill gates is said to have asburgers , and many other brillant people. with all its difficulties these are extremly gifted folks.

I believe there is an online test in for Asperger's in the link I gave you. It's not a diagnostic tool but rather a reference to show your doc on your next visit. Gives him idea's of what to look into.
