I'm just wondering what people takes are on Dr Phil.
There has been some discussion in other ADD communities about his show and the way he deals with guests who show signs of attention deficit disorder.

Has he done any shows specifically on ADD? In general, I like the guy, his humerous, no-nonsense approach......
As far as I know he hasn't done any shows specifically about AD/HD. I know he did have a guest on one time who had AD/HD though. It was one of those can this marriage be saved shows.
He didn't really say much about AD/Hd except for that it was a real condition that should be treated.

A "real condition that should be treated"? Great....he continues to be on my favorites list, in that case.....:)

I love Dr. Phil, don't get to watch his show much, but I really like him. He was very funny on David Letterman, as I posted in previous post about Dr. Phil.
Go Dr. PHIL!!
He has some great common sense sounding approaches to what people are going through.
On the second Dr. Phil show was a man who continually 'forgot' to come home right after work. He was usually late. He procrastinated a lot. He forgot his wife's birthdate. Starting to sound familiar? As it happened, I taped the show.
Dr. Phil told the man's wife that every time her husband is late, that means he does not love her. The man looked as though he'd been hit with a baseball bat.
I've been on the Dr. Phil board and all through Oprah's archives and every time Dr. Phil has come across someone with those symptoms, he has told them off - said they were 'inconsiderate' 'arrogant', etc. etc. Not ONCE has he even suggested they might have ADD. MANY people have posted to his boards to protest his treatment of people who appear to be ADD.
Don't forget, he got his PhD over twenty years ago and ceased practice a short while after that. Last I checked, the California licencing board did not list him as a licensed psychologist.
A local psychiatrist who also graduated more than twenty years ago also claims to understand ADD. He told me that people with ADHD are intelligent but people with non-H ADD actually are mildly retarded. Moral of the story: Just because a physician claims to understand ADD does not mean he or she does.
