I'm collecting a list of known epigenetic/hereditary factors associated with ADHD.



Feel free to add to the list. (including gene variants/endophenotypes, etc)



-premature (?)
-low birth weight (?)

-lead exposure (epigenetic/hereditary)
-alcohol exposure (epigenetic/hereditary)
-unintentional adoption, anxiety, depression, type distress exposure (epigenetic/hereditary)
-cigarette exposure (epigenetic/hereditary)

-DRD4 (gene variant/endophenotype)

Something to keep in mind, the associations here are statistical in nature and may or may not be directly involved in causation.

So while these associations may turn out to be important, just association alone has nothing to do with causation. Simply enough, the stats do not deal with any kind of cause mainly because they can't. Just the nature of this type of statistics.

Learned about this one recently... the Val66Met polymorphism is part of the so-called BDNF gene in humans.
