Last night, I went to Wal-Mart to get groceries, and it occurred to me: my child does not have an easter bunny. Unfortunately, to my surprise, they had very few stuffed bunnies left--and the ones there were butt-ugly.
So I went to the general, non-Easter stuffed-animals section in the toy department, and found monkeys, Zebras, Elephants, Giraffes...and one pig.
It was the closest thing I could find to a bunny, so I settled for the pig.
This morning, we presented Sam with his stuffed easter pig, and I said "What are you going to name him, Sam?" and his father piped up and said "Bacon!"
Sam has now decided quite emphatically that the pig's name is Bacon. Seriously.
Ughhh...I married a twisted man, and my son, of course, loves and idolizes his twisted daddy, so...

Here's a picture of Sam, and his new friend, Bacon.

That's great... Bacon, I love it!! Coulda been worse, though, it coulda been "Pork Chop" or "Sausage."

Yeah, then we joked that if he got another one, we could name it Sausage, and then maybe we could give him a couple of little ones, and they could be, like, Sausage's babies, and those could be named "Lynx" (Links) and "Patty" (Pattie.)

*Sigh* He's a little odd, to put it one way...but I love him, what can I say? The heart wants what it wants, and he makes me laugh (even when I don't really feel right about laughing at whatever it is he's got me laughing about...)

Besides, we figure we're perfect for each other...I'm weird, he's weird...we wouldn't fit together with just anyone! There are too many "normal," uptight people in the world, am I right?!? So we sort of complement each other, to a point, I guess.;)

Eh...I think it's the nerdiness that truly cements our love. I could not have married anyone but a geek.:p

That is the most adorable Easter story I have heard. Thank you.

And if you ask me, we weird ones, seem more like the "norm" then the uptight, serious ones. I mean really, who has more fun? We do!

How's this for "out there." We adopted a cat whose name was Henry. After a day or so, I decided I didnt like that name and changed it to George. (My husband kept walking around singing that song, George George George of the jungle, watch out for that tree! George is fond of airobatics!) So it stuck. His name is Henry, we call him George for short!

I revere the kind of personality that can think up names like "Bacon", "Lynx", and "Pattie" in relation to porcine pets.;)

In my family, we call that "twistoid"...:p ...but as far as I know, none of my relatives are from Iowa....but your husband could be one of us!

Knittingjunkie,

I am just thrilled you understood it. Most ppl look at me with this blank stare. It's kind of frightening actually. Like I just shot them in the foot.

By the way, my husband found your husband to be quite original and humorous. He loved the name Bacon. Maybe its a guy thing?
