I am currently working a part-time contract job that is supposed to end in a few weeks. I am in a major depressive episode, & uncertain how much work I can handle. Plus, I'm having a LOT of difficulty finding anything on the job front.

I have a very small amount of money in savings - I'm getting very worried that I could burn through that in the coming months, even living extremely frugally. I do have health insurance, but it doesn't cover much on the psych front.

What happens after that? Do I apply for SS disability? If I did apply, does that take me out of working forever, even if I should get better?

We have people here who have applied for SS disability and they're still waiting years after application. I am sure someone who knows more will come along and say more. All I know is it takes months and months to even get a hearing which apparently will be routinely denied. Then you have to appeal.. which can take a very long time.

Do you have family you can reach out to?

Thank you for the information...

Sadly, I do not have any family to turn to.
