View Full Version : Strattera Ineffective/Inconsistent! What could it be? Lack of food..?

Does anyone know what could be responsible for Stattera being wildly inconstant in it's effectiveness from day to day? One day 40mg for the whole day is really effective, the next day 80mg seems to do practically nothing! (I'm prescribed 80mg)

My only theory right now is not eating enough prior to taking Strattera, but I don't know, what else could it be? Can the timing of food really have such a drastic effect? If I eat a crap load of broccoli prior to taking my meds (it's hard though because it makes me feel like I want to throw up) it seems like sometimes my meds may work better but I haven't systematically tested this.

Does anyone know why medication effectiveness would vary so much when I've been on them for many months now? It's really frustrating, I have the same sort of issues with Zoloft being inconsistent, which I'm currently taking as well.

Its possible the different foods may affect their absorption.

Like a greasy meal may give a subtle difference to say fruit salad.

Some say an acidic or basic food makes a difference.

Well my first 4 months on it would vary from day to day for no apparent reason. Some days it just didn't work and made me tired and sad.
