Has anyone on here ever heard of Provigil being used to treat ADD? After a nightmare with 2 doses of Straterra my doctor wants me to try Provigil usually used for sleep disorders. I have not tried any other meds besides the straterra due to 2 concussions. Apparenty stimulants may cause seizures in some instances. My theory on Provigil would be this: I take it and it's going fine up the dose after a few days look I'm getting so much done! Then BOOM I get sick because I am over tired and have overworked myself. So I was already hesitant to take meds but now I'm conserned about this. I want to know if anyone has had experience with Provigil or even if you have anything to add to my info bank.

I take Provigil for ADD. I take the highest dosage (400mg) and while I think it helps my ADD, it doesn't disturb my sleep at all. Yes, it's often prescribed for narcolepsy, but it is also indicated (off-label) for ADD. Everyone's mileage will vary, of course, and a good friend of mine started at a loooow dosage and decided she didn't like it. But don't worry! You can start low, see how you react, and build up/quit as needed.
I don't think it's like an amphetamine, where you get all wired, stay up for days, and wear yourself out.
Take a look here:

Scroll down the looooong menu on the left side of the screen until you find Provigil, and click. Lots of info, another person's experience, and links to even more info.
I took provigil for several months. It was a pretty amazing drug in the sense that it kept me alert during the day but didn't interfere at all with night-time sleep. It wasn't at all like a stimulant. Unfortunately, it didn't do much for my ADD symptoms so I switched to ritalin. But I have known other people who did find it helpful for ADD. I tried Strattera for awhile, too, and hated it!
