View Full Version : Stones & Chrystals
EYEFORGOT 04-04-05, 03:13 PM Personally I'm not really into this but I find it curious/interesting. I was reading about some people who carry with them stones and chrystals to help with certain things, whether it be for good luck, good fortune, safety, health, watever. This isn't a new concept, humans have a long history of wearing amulets and good luck charms. But these were specifically for the mind, and I of course thought immediately of us. I'm so desperate I might try them even if they're just a placebo. :p
amythyst - clear thought
rutilated quartz - stimulation
amber - memory
celestite - clarity of thought
rhodochrosite - memory, strengthening intellect
rhodonite - reducing stress, improve memory, calming mind
*these stones were said to work well mixing the purple ones with the green ones
smelling rosemarry oil is supposed to have some psychological benefit, too
I'm far more able to believe the calming effects of scents and aromas, but holding a stone or chrystal I have never tried.
just an fyi
Wheezie 04-05-05, 09:33 AM My cranial-sacral massage therapist has a *big* piece of quartzite under the massage table. I'm guessing she believes that it dissipates bad energy or some such. Next time I'll ask (providing I remember to, of course ;) ).
I'm not going to knock it because cranial-sacral massage is itself a bit out-there, yet, I go every month and a half or so.
I was given a very small rock - everyone in class chose one from among several - by a Ho-Chunk woman who was teaching a class I took. I kept it in my pocket for a long time, for me it was something I would hold when I was nervous. I was reassured that I was connected to nature and part of something bigger than whatever current worry I was facing. We were told that the rocks were found in a stream and blessed by an elder and that we were to "give them a drink" every now and again. I often left my little rock in my pants pocket when I did the wash and hoped that counted as giving it a drink.
I wonder if all these things work a bit like cognitive behaviour therapy. We tell ourselves, or, we receive instruction that we buy into, "this will help calm your mind" and whenever we're feeling freaky, we touch the stone and remember "calm your mind." And, voila, the stone's power worked.
I'm also thinking of Dumbo the Elephant and his feather. Poor Dumbo couldn't believe in himself but he could believe in a feather. When he faced a crisis he was forced to put aside the thinking part of his mind and just react with the knowing part of his mind. He could fly after all, it was just his thinking that got in the way.
AAAK, Dumbo analogies!!! Ah well, whatever works.... :D

todd d. 04-07-05, 04:16 PM interesting, at first while i was reading this i thought hmmmmmm some type of withchcraft, but no, i dont beleive so ive heard of peaple burring stutues of st.'s in there yards to sell there homes?????? crystals, statues, magnets, what ever works why not, as long as it doesent interfer with what is important ,
our relationships. heck it might even help, last post said something about a placebo the mind is uncharted we now little about, and if we believe it to be so then why not
i some times wear chistian items, i even have a angle air freshner in my truck thinking some how i might have a little more protection. what about that fish on the back of my jeep symolizing my beliefs, i certainly dont worship the statue of the virgin mary that i have ,
i worshop the creator alone, and what ever brings you to a peacefull place , clears the mind ,maks us think better, remember more , and im happier. Go for it!!!
uor creator wants us to be happy to have nice things , be a better person, and a mind set is a great place to start. To many closed minned people tend or try to take away our dreams by putting us down because we think differently. i believe us add'ers are very gifted with many things , we tend to think out side the box, and try different things and if it works thats great if it dont whats the hurt .we also are more spirit minded wheather for the good or evil our choice. so that diamond if yoused for the good ,use it . ................perspective....................Tod d
EYEFORGOT 04-07-05, 05:55 PM Thanks Todd. That was a very comforting post.
The golden rule is throughout the world religions. In Paganism it is: And it harm none, do as ye will.
I am not pagan but I was encouraged to see such a gem of wisdom and the quest for people to learn to get along permiating cultural and religious boundaries.
I have a mezuzah that I wear and I remember the prayers that go with it, I have a buddha amulet that reminds me of tranquility; I see the possibility of stones, chrystals or aromas doing the same thing, stimulating our minds and helping us remember something important, or simply putting us in an emotional state that is pleasant (likewise certain symbols or aromas can remind us of something negative).
todd d. 04-07-05, 11:11 PM y w chel i just reread that post i put up ,terrible grammar i think i need english 101 again.
im glad it was incouraging, in my
faith the good book says dont be conformed to this world but be e tranfered by the renewing of the mind. take care

Scorpioleo1970 05-30-05, 06:02 PM There is a positive side of craft ideas not all evil. The tools are use for good practices not all negative. The more you know is the key.Maybe used in reach of the higher light of god and believing in it's magic is the key.The colors though open up your third eye and allowing it to open or close is the key for the healing purposes--Scorpioleo1970
