View Full Version : Private messages
crazymama05 04-05-05, 12:52 PM Ok, I did go through and look for this suggestion and did not find it anywhere. If it was out there and I didnt find it, I apologize profusely!
When you want to send a new PM to someone, it would be really wonderful if a drop down menu was available, of your buddy list, to chose a recipient from. I find it difficult to remember the specific spelling of some of the members usernames and must leave the messages page to find them to send a message.
The drop down menu located under a user's name is perfect. But when you are in your messanging system, it would be much easier to read messages, sort messages and write new ones without having to find them elsewhere.
Being the ADDer that I am, if I have to go search for someone's name to make sure it is spelled right, I get distracted and end up in another forum reading something else, and forget all together what I wanted to say to them.
If there is a way to do this, could someone explain it to me, cause I have not found it......which would be nothing new for me...hee hee.
Thanks, and have a beautious day!!!
I think I've seen where you can look at your buddy list and check off boxes and then send.
Ian.
crazymama05 04-05-05, 01:11 PM Hello Ian
Unless I am doing it wrong, I can only delete, or put buddies on or off my buddy list, from the buddy list page.
When I am on the New Message page, there is nothing available for using the buddy list to chose a name. Only a box to manually enter the names, and if more then one recipient, seperate with commas, and can send one message to up to 5 recipients.
Am I missing something?
crazymama05 04-06-05, 12:59 PM I just reread this post, and dont know if my response made sense.
There is no box to check for sending a private message in the control panel. There is only the an add, remove or ignore option in the buddy list. In the message page, you have to manually enter the name(s) into the "recipient" box. And being the bad speller/memory recall'er that I am, a drop down box of my buddy list for the recipient space would be great.
clawless 04-06-05, 01:24 PM if open the buddy list from the quick link menu that will show you all your buddies on and offline there is a box net to each name tick the one you want and on the bottom you will see a button that says PM users click there and it will automatically open the pm with the name of the person you selected
Hope that's what you were looking for ;)
Click on a person's name in a post, and you'll find a "Send Private Message to < name >"
If you open the "quick links" and then "buddy list" you'll have check boxes to pm a group of members. Is this what you were after?
Ian.
crazymama05 04-06-05, 09:18 PM Yes it was, thank you thank you thank you Clawless and Ian!
Just curious, but how long do you think it will be before I know what all the buttons are for? I am guessing awhile. I appreciate your patience with my short comings.
When you figure out the buttons, it's been my experience someone then asks you if you want more! Be careful what you wish for.. :eyebrow:
So many buttons, so little time!
Ian
crazymama05 04-08-05, 02:33 AM Well Ian, so far it isnt kicking me in the butt. I have to tell ya that those buttons at the top are the coolest EVER!!!
I do not know how I navigated before those. Puzzling really. I am getting the hang of this, you could really be in trouble now!!! Careful what you tell me to be careful of wishing for........did that make sense?
Have a great day-and great job on this forum. It is the best!!! Truly.
I may never leave again! :D (scared yet? muahahahahahaaaaa)

Can we ADD buttons to a post such as the EDIT BUTTON
If so can I be a Button Man
I love buttons
See , these are my Buttons
Want to push my Buttons (http://www3.sympatico.ca/garrylawton/ADD/Links.htm)
I know we can add them to individual posts such as this :soapbox: (http://www3.sympatico.ca/garrylawton/ADD/Links.htm) but it would be nice if we could have a suggestion area for new Buttons to be ADDED to the general program where we could all discuss the fucniallity of a Paticular Button
Just my opinion from a very lazy typer
You have access to the EDIT function in a post for a given period of time. The EDIT function is not generally available in a post, once that time period is up.
