THE MEANING OF LIFE
Throughout the ages man has pondered on what is the meaning to life, why do we exist, is there an after life, is there an overall god who rules or are there many gods, or is there no gods at all. From as early as man could speak and have a half-way intelligent conversation, man has fought for power and respect. The way that they did it with they fighting and killing each other was to answer the BIG question, what is “THE MEANING OF LIFE.”

That is why there is religion in most cases( not meaning to insult any religions) because they answer; why we are here, how did the world come about, why is the sky blue, what happens when you die etc. From all that, many religions were created, some that thrived and others that died but they all had/have one thing in common, each one thought they were superior to the next, with the exclusion of some religions.

People claimed to have a connection with their god/s or goddesses there for gaining power over the people and becoming their leader in most cases. These people in English were called priests.

After sometime people started coming up with new ideas and questioning the old ways these people were called HYPOCRITES. They were often killed or sent to prove that they were worthy of their God/s but to prove them selves they were put in lose lose situations. e.g.

THE SNAKE PIT

People were thrown into a pit full of deadly snakes. If the climbed out of the pit they were killed because they would be thought of as the devil/some evil dude. If they died in the snake pit they would just say oh well he was good poor him bye bye.

Anyway enough about history because now in the 21st century people are all opinionated (in some cases to much) there for we all have a different theory to the big question. So what I want to know what is THE MEANING OF LIFE for you, what keeps you going and feel OK about dying?

All I want to know is what you thing the meaning of life is.
To attempt to be the very best we can be with what we have. To be the kindest to others, even in the face of adversity. To make the most of what we have. To love until we hurt; and risk being hurt. To cherish, and care for nature. To be true to oneself, even if it means others will dislike us. To stand against the odds. To accept that winning is not winning. To aim to succeed without expecting success.

To stare up to the sky in wonder as we see a flock of birds fly high above us, sunlight shinning through their wings, and feel connected. To accept that we will never know the meaning of life relative to another, but to accept them regardless. To care for the sick, elderly and dying, with respect. To love our children, or the children we will have, to the best of our ability. To know when to say "no". To know there is a difference between sympathy and empathy. Empathy being the greatest.

The meaning of life for me is leaving an insignificant imprint on those whos lives I have come across. If people think of you when your gone then you have touched them in a way that will last thru the ages.

The meaning of life to me is a win, be happy and suceed. What I mean by that is life is a game there are certain rules you must follow but the rest you make up, you can twist the rules to your advantage so that you win the game of life. Take up a job that you enjoy because you will suceed with it thats how I play the game of life.

Viktoria, that is beautiful. I could not say it any better.

I will add to not always be right. My sister taught me to be right is not important to let things go and be the best person you can be is. Another thing for me is to be able to leave something or some inprint on the lives of children. To think of the end result of life and what you want out of and strive for that while we are alive. The is a quote my teacher wrote on our syllabus I want to share with all of you ...

A hundred years from now ...it will not matter what myy bank account was, the sort of houes I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different because I ws important in teh life of a child.

For the dawn of each poet, each philosopherand king
begins with a Teacher and the wisdom he/she brings.

Children must be helped to face their mistakes nd the weakness without losing sight of their strengths.
-Eloise Greenfield, Author

This is my goal in life and to be happy and be Chris.:D

I know what you mean ttjmom. I have thought how movie stars are lucky that they have some kind of legacy to hand down on tape. There children. I have often wondered what I could leave behind. What you said bring to mind many people from my childhood or teachers of mine throughtout my life. I love your quote about the river . How does it go again.

K how about this one "you're only a heart beat away from dieing"? We're coming up to the 12 year anniversary of Waco, the 10th year anniversary of Oklahoma City bombing and I think the 5th year anniversary of Columbine.
Think I am getting stressed with the 19th/20th coming up...afraid some idiot will do something to harm innocent people....:(

The meaning of life , let me thing here. Okay, that we love one another and show compassion toward another human life. To be the best Chris ( insert your own name) I can be. To lend a helping hand to others and a listening ear. To never stop learning and to leave your life behind as an example for others to follow. Wow, that just came to me am I a philosopher or what?

Ok I got another one-I was born dying :D it never failed to make me laugh when Isabelle said it...I should mention that Isabelle was the first person I had ever met over 100 :faint:

I have always felt that my purpose was to remind other's that its ok to laugh even when it hurts. :)

i just got done reading all the replays, what perspective on life . after all that wisdom all i can say is : "to bare fruit that remains" , Life is but a moment, this life we live is not our own, this is not our final home, what we do with this life well,,,,, will determain the out come of eternity for us as a individual, my perspective perhaps , but to keep eternity in perspective one must consider our meaning in life. and how we should live each day.

more food for thought , Todd
