Hi,

My boyfriend, 27, has ADHD. He was never properly diagnosed and now it is running his life. He has built habits around his ADHD since he was little and he is having the hardest time trying to retrain himself, on his own-and I am not the best person to coach him.

He recently went to a psychiatrist to get rediagnosed and help with some sort of treatment plan, but the man was a freak and made him feel really uncomfortable. He is a sensitive guy and especially at this moment in his life b/c he feels so behind.

Does anyone know of a good psychiatrist in the Boston or MA area, maybe even a child psychaitrist, I've heard they are great b/c they deal with a lot of childrenw withh ADD and adults as well. Please help.

Welcome to the forums. I would suggest calling your local mental health department. They might know where you could start to look. You can also post in the state section of the forum and see if you get a response.
Good luck

Have you tried contacting Mass General Hospital?

Hi,

The North Shore is fine. He doesn't live that far away, so please share your knowledge...thanks!

ditto this request for myself - if someone could also pm me names and/or their recommendations.

also, someone who takes ins. would be nice but is not required - i am more focused on the 'best' in the biz

Hi, 28m here North Shore, and I've just kind of recently discovered that I most likely have ADD. I'd love to get some of your recommendations for Cambridge/North Shore if anyone has them. I really don't know how to go about finding someone to talk to about this.

If anyone knows of a good one in the Boston/Charlestown/Somerville area I would appreciate it. My primary care dr is not in the mass General Network so I can not be seen by anyone there. I would appreciate any suggestions.
My primary care has been able to diagnose it but i would love a specialist to treat it.
Pm me will be fine.
thanks so much

I'm a bit late to the party but may as well pop in here and ask the same things.

I'm primarily interested in finding someone with testing expertise, since I've never had a formal diagnosis...but since I might need ongoing services after that I may as well also ask for psychiatrist and doctor recommendations at the same time. So: anyone have any particular recommendations on who to see/who not to see in the Boston area, either for getting testing done or for ongoing treatment?
