Hello all!
I am going to be starting my school year soon, if I am allowed back in. My last year was not great due to stress and trying to get this ADD thing under control.
I will have a tutor from the disability resource centre to help me prepare for the upcoming year, and to help me throughout it.
I will be taking two courses first semester and hopefully three second semester. I have had pretty good success with my courses for which I had accommodations for - a 20% increase in my grades for those courses! For the first time, I feel somewhat smart!
So I was hoping for some guidance. suggestions and ideas of how to go about preparing for the year?
What things should I do before hand?
How should I keep track of all the information?

I really want to make sure that I am well prepared for this year so I can get my grades up.
Thanks!

WHen does school start Slowpoke??? Soon??? I would find out what textbooks you need to purchase for your classes and go to bookstore and get them now....to avoid lines on first day of classes...but mainly so you can get a head start on reading....I would also contact professors for the two classes you are taking and just ask them what is the first reading assignment....nothing like getting a head start on things.....

ALso I remember last September when I was starting my last year of school I did get a student planner calendar....On the front was my class schedule with room numbers of classes....and inside I had names of professors and their office hours and phone number and e-mails.....I brought my student planner calendar with me everywhere...it was like my school bible....With each class syllabus, I filled in all due dates for papers and examination dates....

I would go to Walmart NOW and purchase your notebooks and highlighters and pens...and pencils...they are cheap there:) and if you don't have tape recorder, purchase one too and plan to arrive at classes early and sit in front row....

That's great that you have a tutor...that will help you a lot....Good luck in school....Slowpoke:)

One of the books I and others have posted here would really help you!! it is called Learning out side the linesby Jonathan Mooney and David Cole. It ranges about $13.00 US to $19.25 Can. but it is worth every penny and will really help you out. I suggest you get it and read it. It will answer your posted question.

hmm...
I was thinking more in terms of mind preparation... I have all the school stuff down. I just seem to be always behind in timing stuff and getting stressed out.

....does that make sense? Mind preparation....?

I think you've just described my situation perfectly...
