View Full Version : Concerta anxiety?

Hi, I will try to keep this simple and short as possible.

I started on Vyvanse a year and a half ago, things went well, but suddenly about 6 months after being on it things went bad. I started getting bad anxiety, foggy minded, scatter brained, and a lot of other things. I tried lowering my dosage, that didn't work, and tons of other things which had little impact of help. I finally saw a specialist last week, and she put me on concerta. Now concerta is starting to give me anxiety, along with some slow thinking. I never had problems with stimlulants when I first began so why would it be affecting me now? I'm on the lowest doseage of concerta at the moment. Should I ask my doctor about a benzo? I've heard they help with anxiety, but don't really know what they are.

I just bought a house, getting into real estate, and have a full time assistant manager job and having my medicine make things worse isn't helping me. Any insightful advice is really appreciated, thank you for your time and comments.

I Experienced the same thing when I first started concerta. Just give it some time.. I know it is not a nice feeling but It went away after 1-2 week of using it.

If the anxiety gets worse why don't you try an SSRI.
I take Citalopram with my Stim.

Some people take Benzos. Addictive and stop working after a while.

It seems to be good and bad at the moment. I have another appointment in 4 weeks, so it's best to wait?

Hi Pilgrim, thank you for the reply!

When I first started on Stims I never got anxiety, but I've always had it before I was ever even on a Stim. It's just that I didn't notice it until Vyvanse started taking a turn for the worse, and now Concerta in some aspect is too, but not nearly as bad!

When you first started on stims were you already taking an anxiety medicine, or did you start at the same time, or later on down the road? Also, how well does the anxiety medicine help you compared to if you didn't take it with your stim?
