I'm ADHD-IMPULSIVE thats with all capitals trust me and it has in many instances been the bane of my existance. That was until I slowly retrained my mouth to not speak for 10 seconds after coming up with a reply. This gives me time to make sure my reply is going to make sense, not going to hurt someone's feelings or sound sarcastic. Nobody has ever really commented on it except for the occasional person who notes that I am less catty or **tchy.

We tend to "talk out loud" to ourselves. Like the time my wife and I were at the Mall of America and this guy walking towards us was dressed like Moses ( I swear);only he didnt have the staff thing. She saw me smile and knew I was going to say something (there was no way I was going to miss that opportunity). So as he passed I said my usual "Whoa" and she responded with her usual (polite) punch in the arm.
I responded with "What? Like the whole place can't tell he's dressed like Moses." I left out a couple of my favorite descriptive adjectives but you get the point. I love to people watch and that's one of my fave places to do it. I just have to work on saying "Whoa" a little lower.:)

:) :) :)
Whoa.
I have had to work on retraining my mouth too.
Coming to accept, rather than to deny that I have an impulsive tendency to say ANYTHING has been very helpful. It does help to take a few deep breaths, stop, and think before opening your mouth. (Kind of like STOP,DROP,and ROLL)
The last thing in the world I would ever want to do is embarrass someone or hurt their feelings... but Lord have mercy, it's hard to control.
Don't you know you have to keep a low profile at the mall? Someone might be watching you? ;)

Ok, I have gotten into more **** with my big mouth. The best thing to do is just to not think it at all. No matter what happens, be ready for anything. And don't let it shock you. No matter what anyone says or does, don't react. Once you learn not to react at all, then you can learn how to react more appropriately. I have gotten to the point where anything can happen and I say nothing.

This sounds like Doug and myself...Let me set the scene for my favorite experiance.
Doug, Dakota (2 years old) and myself (6 months pregnant) were on vacation in South Dakota during Sturgis. Now I'm sure you realize the kind of people you run into during this time and you should be amazed that I was able to control my basic instincts and my mouth.
That was until our third day in Deadwood while window shopping I just happened to notice a handsome couple dressed in leather walking in our direction down the middle of the sidewalk as if they owned the place. :eyebrow: Now I'll admit it wasn't their looks or the fact that they were both dressed in very revealing leather it was the gold chain linking them from his nipple to hers that got my attention. :eyebrow:
Soon after I notice this gold chain that is about as long as my body is wide am I propelled off the sidewalk into a shop were I am un-ceremoniously dumped on my butt. I guess it didn't take my husband long to notice the chain and the naughty grin on my face to know that I planned on staying my original course.
