I'm afraid of soap.

Or actually I'm afraid to get soap or similar products in my eyes and mouth, which leads me to rinse them very, very often. I hate the smell of soap. I also always rinse my mouth or lips if they touch cloth that's been washed with a laundry detergent that contains perfume.

I think this may be OCD, but I have never read about anything like it.

It sounds like it.

But it could be instigated by an alergy to perfume and/or certain chemicals.

Maybe try buying a *truly* perfume free soap, and see if it bugs you so much.
I say "truly perfume free" because lots of "unscented" products have "fragrance" listed in small print in the ingredients.

Okay, now I definitely sound OCD. And I am. My whole family is. But I'm the only one who has alergies to perfume, wool, etc. Both of those give me hives if they are on my skin.
And perfume makes the inside of my nose hurt (hives inside?) if I get a strong whiff of it.

Getting rid of things over which you obess won't change your tendency to obsess. But it might give relief long enough to get help for the root problem.

At least, that's sort of how it worked for me.
Except the meds to make me stop obsessing make me more scattered, and the meds for my ADD make me hyperfocus--which is like obsessing. :(

Hi Sosninity!

Thanks for answering! :)

I'll still be afraid to get soap in my eyes and mouth if I find a truly perfume free soap, but it might be better for my nose. Your right, it's hurtful. Although I prefer some perfumed soaps before some "unperfumed". I don't think I'm allergic though cause I use perfumed deodorant without problems. I don't use perfume though and I know my mother is allergic to it.
