Hello everyone. I'm hoping that one of you may be able to help me. My 13 year old son started taking Strattera at the end of April and his appetite has virtually disappeared. He has gone from 91 pounds to 78 pounds. I am very concerned. His Dr. is going to make a decision about switching at the end of this month. Did anyone else have this problem and if so, did it pass in time? Other than this problem the Straterra is working fantastic for him. He has also had a problem with OCD and stimulant medication really aggrevates this problem so I really hate to see him go back on them. Right now I am in a lose/lose situation. It took over a year to come up with the medication combination that he's on right now and it is working so well. I would appreciate any help you guys can give me on this.
Thanks.

I wish I could find a medication that would decrease my appetite! Strattera seems to have turned it down a notch from the ravenous munch monster that I've become on Lexapro, but it hasn't killed it. I do have mild indigestion in the evenings, kind of a gnawing sensation, but nothing major. But I'm a 49 year old woman, not a 13 year old boy. We're barely members of the same species ;o).
But I don't mean to make light of your concerns; I'd be worried too, and I know it's frustrating.
By now your doc has probably decided. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I just found the site.
Hoping for the best for your son,
Margreet.

Some lost posts....... There were some other posts here as well in response to Summer's inquiry....oh well:(
Summer: a couple of appetite enhancement meds that I didn't mention before would be megace and marinol....perhaps check out with the doc?.....(I know you had mentioned the Remeron and you said that gave him pretty bad side effects, right?)

i dont know what it is, but since taking Strattera, 80mg per day, my wife has to remind me to eat, and sometimes force me to with some of her yummy cooking. i hope your son is eating now!
