I've been off ridalin for two weeks and today I am having trouble staying awake during the day at work. This is weird for yesterday I slept all day and I went to be early too. I should have plenty of sleep so why is it that I close my eyes for a second I start dreaming? Is this normal when you first go off your meds? I'm going to start up with my ridalin as soon as my new insurance understands that we don't grow out of our AD/HD

There have been times when I've had to bite into my lip to stay awake - or to keep from completely zoning out - at very boring meetings. This is pre-diagnosis, pre-medication.

I've been off mine for a year now. I didn't have any troubles like you are having.

Are you on any other meds, like antidepressants? They can cause fatigue.

I remember feeling pretty tired for several days after switching from Concerta to Metadate CD. Remember, Ritalin and all its derived formulas are stimulants. Our body gets used to getting it, and when it's reduced or taken away, our body reacts. In other words, "withdrawl symptoms."
Hey, it's the same way with coffee, right?!

Thank you very much. I called my med doctor and he thought I had narcolepsy! I called my general doctor and he thought it was like when you go off coffee, withdrawal symptoms (headaches) and sleepiness (body getting use to staying awake itself). He said it will take about 2 more weeks before I'm more like myself. Good thing I'll have my ridalin back for then. :) Thanks all! I'm alittle more awake today, still yawning though :D
