I am very very upset tonight...and i want to VENT, so i thought what is the best place to do it.... The forums lol...:faint:

Some of you know i just got this new job a month ago. When i sign my contract, i was under the understanding that i was going to open up a used toy store for under priviledge families.

Now my boss comes in today, talking about the prices i am going to sale the toys. I looked at the list and i just could not beleive the /%%?/%%?%%/"%%?%$/%?3$$/"$/$" prices she wants me to sell her %$%%$?%/%%?%/W/%%?/%?/%/%?%&jn ''USED toys. And no matter how much i tried to keep my face from twiching from her ?&/$%??/%?/"$%4 stupidity and ignorance right at that second....GRRRRRRrrRrRRR . And then she says what do you think ??
I am trying or hoping for the phone to ring, cause i know ,, i know i cant lie...eventho she is a %$$%/%??%%2 NEW boss, and i love this job. I will not ,,,,and i will not sale used toys, at those prices.

Exemple....I have a game call Risk,,you can buy this game here in Quebec for about 40 $ new. She wants me to sale a Risk game that i have which is in a very good condition,,,but still ?&?$%/?/%%?%?&??& used 35 % cheaper. So 26 &%?&*?*&?*%&() dollars....

So anywyas the darn phone did not ring, i said '' I was under the impression that we were sailing stuff cheaper, since 3/4 on the population in the town i live (6,000 ppl) so 3/4 of this population is living under the poverty line. She as the %?%/?/%?/%?%/ nerve to say,,, WE are opening the store for MIster and miss everybody. In my head i was thinking, did she hear what i just said,,,,,3/4 of them are %?/%?/%?/%? dirt poor.

Right now i know that i will not sale this stuff at this price, if she does not change her mind , i am out of there.
I refuse to compromise my belief no matter if i am gonna be the next %?/%$$%"$/%??%?%6 dirt poor $%$%$%"4 in this town.

I feel betrayed ( not good spelling but i dont care lol) i feel i was lured into something that is not at all what was suppose to be. My understanding was that i was going to be in charge, of things, budget, decisions ect. I dont even have any say on the budget, she just bought, central vaccum, digital camera, and a file cabinet on my $%$%$"%$/% budget for her office. I know i am not opening the freaking TAj Mahal of used toys store, i only have a 4000$ budget for the year for it. i thought they wanted the store to help finance other activities they have at the center, like parental courses ( for people who have been order from juvenile court to assist) and 3 other course for the parents nad kids under priviledged.

I cant sale toys to a woman i know that as problem paying groceries for her kids at those prices ...i cant do that, that is against everyting i beleive in .
I had so much plans like i wanted to have one afternoon a week for games. Like tournament or just plain playing game of scrabble, risk whatever the /$%$%$% kids wants to play. I want them to find other things then just freaking tv and nintendo, i wanted also to have near x-mas ( cause i do give away toys for families that asked for it) for maybe 3 afternoon have young people come and have some kind of santa's helper making and repairing and washing toys for the gifts baskets. My daughter and her friends are already helping me , wash all the barbies ,and dolls hairs and skin, and put their hair nice, nice clothes for them. I have to do it home, cause my boss think i should just put them up for sale liek they are. ??????? i dont think so ....so i told her i would do it home, on my own time.

I also think you are totally right on. You have to know your market.

Your stand is completely admirable, so you should feel good about that!

I would feel the same anger as you in this situation. Unfortunately, you're going to have to fight business with business.

I'd stick to your guns, even if you don't lower the prices as much as you want, but back up your mouth with other charities. What are their figures? Are there consignment shops in your town or a nearby town, what condition are their items in? Explain your standards and make sure the Scrooge knows that if this is to be a community service, whose money goes towards the greater good, then they have to perform as well as or better than other organizations that are doing the same.

You can also price some items on half.com See what a good condition book or computer game costs; or on ebay, what is the condition and price for a used game of RISK. Hopefully, the figures you find will be in your favor.

Sorry about the headache hon. But I can't think of anyone I'd want helping me in my time of need than someone just like you. Keep us posted.

That is why people have problems with me, it's i will not compromise myself for anyone. And it's been like that since i am born :eek: .
But i think as i grow older, i know when if it's a lost fight in advance and i dont bother, but things like actually gets me GRRRRRRrrrr LOL.

No matter what sort of shop you work in you have to be able to sell the goods, if they are to expensive people wont buy them they will just go else where.

What good is a toy shop full of toys that nobody can afford. :eek:

Some times its better to have a very small profit with a high turn over of stock and customers for that matter than a large profit with hardly no turn over and no customers.

Just a little idea you might want to put in your new bosses head ;) :)

Ok so your saling used toys at an outrageous price to pay for other services offered at this center right? And your boss is blowing how much on new toys for herself? Now my question is she the owner or is there another above her position. If she has to answer to someone else I would bring her expenditures and the price gauging to her superor.

ok i will try to explain very fast how it works where i work...

The main part of the centre, is a Joujouthèque, that rents toys to kids and family for 10$ membership a year. It's the same principle as a librairy,but with toys.
And this is all goverment grants , donations ect. From the librairy they started over the ten years they have been open, many litle courses like i explained in my first GRRRRR post LOL :D . My toys store , was created to pass toys that are coming in , way too much for us to used in the librairy, and also , they wanted someone to handle the x-max baskets . And make some extra money to help finance the courses at the centre. We are very much space limited, so the toys have to go, but if she makes me sale them at outrageous $$ , they wont sale, and i think on top it will descrite everything she as been opening her mouth for ten years about the poor and under priviledge families. She started the librairy so kids, who are really poor could play for 3 weeks and more with toys there parents could never afford.

i told her we can make so much more money just doing car wash, spaghetti supper,s whatever , then i will ever sailing used toys.

Thanks for the concern and words everyone, it's great to feel i am not alone to be outrage by this. I am looking for solutions, i have till Tuesday before she comes back to work, and we can talk... Jeez i have a freaking tv guys coming on Thursday to film the Boutique and stuff...:eek: :eek:

Perhaps, this is one of those sit back, watch her fail and pick up the pieces situations.
Sometimes, I find it less stressful to just watch and wait and be ready to take a positive action when they realize they are in trouble. I know your stressed about it but it will all come out in the wash, as you said nobody is going to pay those prices so be ready to take quick action when she realizes her idea flopped big time.

The whole weekend i have been debating this in my head and try to make it clear for me, on what my intentions are towards her reactions.
