I got canned today, so what do I do now??? That is the big question right? I am in the process of purchasing a home, going off my parents insurance, and finishing school. What the hell am I to do now? Could my boss have had worse timing??? I think not!

You've listed some long term goals...you've obviously been working toward, that you are within reach of attaining. Don't let the party pooper boss spoil the fun!

Jobs don't get us from point A to point B, we get ourselves from point A to point B...granted the timing may not be optimal, but there's a new opportunity on the horizon. I got let go from a contract two years ago. I was returning to an employer where I have an impecible reputation, and the silly boss decided to let me go.

What happened after that? I got lucky. My next job was offered to me in the living room of my home, by an old friend that left work once he heard what happened and came over. It took several weeks for him to bring me in for the department he manages, but I've loved it there more than any job I've ever held before. I don't get favoritism from my friend, in that I report to one of his supervisors and it took the tough old marine a while to decide that he liked both me and my work.

All I know...use your network of friends and associates to help in finding something new. If a network doesn't exist, simply apply...and focus on building one for the future. That network may not always be able to help out with something material, but someday it just might pay off.

Mostly, just don't let the temporary setback take your eye of your goals. Even if one or two of them may need to be delayed.

I was told I was being let go bc I have a bad attidute, I don't fit the form of the way the direction the club wants to go, and I complain too much. Well I have a bad attitude bc they promoted and demoted me all within a month. It was a $7000 a year difference. I was rather poed about that. Then I get this. The reason for the demotion from bf was that I didn't retain information. Can u say ADD! I have not and did not disclose my ADD, but I am starting to think I should have. What I m concerned about it that I am to close on this condo in two weeks. What if the bank decides to check to verify my employment??? THen I am screwed!

Don't know about the US but in Canada, the bank requires a letter from the company stating your salary and that you are currently employed before they give you the loan.

If you've already got the loan secured, they prbably will not check again that you are employed, but they sure will start to take out the payments.

What lousy timing, I'm so sorry to hear about this.

It might have been useful to tell your boss next time. Where I work we have special accommodations where required. You know, equal opportunity employer thingie.
