View Full Version : FlyLady Really Works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RhapsodyInBlue 04-22-05, 09:18 AM I have just arrived home from being away for some time and ohhhhhhh, what a complete and utter shock it was to walk inside the house:eek: !!:faint:
We really were quite good with our cleanliness and order of our home, but we were pack rats and yada yada yada, and Ancient collected things that dated back to pre-historic times:eek: .
We needed help; well, being bluntly honest, it wasn't so much me, it was Ancient.
I thought I was standing in the wrong house.
The house was spotless.
The freezer had been cleaned out.
The washing was done.
The refrigerator was spotless.
The floors were vacummed.
The bathroom gleamed.
Clean sheets.
Even a casserole was made!
AND.......Ancient's desk       . I never knew it was a dark mahogany wood:confused: . He opened all the drawers and they are almost empty.
He has his email set on a "noise". When an email arrives he dashes off to see what it is. He only has to see the words "FlyLady" and he is off and running. Ancient is like Pavlov's dog when he sees those words. :faint: This morning he said to me "I have checked all the hot spots, but I can't do anything because they are all clean".
I am literally shocked. I'd recommend FlyLady to anyone. I still feel like I am in the wrong house:confused: !.............:soapbox:
Hugs and Kisses to Andrei.......that was in miracle time;):p

fasttalkingmom 04-22-05, 09:22 AM That's great !!!!
it worked for me also, but for one reason or another I stooped and well :(
Ancient Music 04-22-05, 09:56 AM Flylady this Flylady that........yada, yada,yada......
*mutter, mutter, curse, blaspheme, make oaths, utter profanity*
15 damn reminders a day...I hate, hate, hate Flylady....... ((((((grrrrrrr))))))
I'm going to learn how to make an email bomb and fix Ian and his suggestions for ever .. hehehehe !
*Uhoh gotta run......Its sink shining time*
fasttalkingmom 04-22-05, 09:59 AM hehe .......... :D
Ancient Music 04-22-05, 10:09 AM You can laugh.......at least I'm doing it........and......,
I'm beginning to be able to find things in just a few seconds, instead of taking half an hour to sort through the mismash of junk in my desk draws and cupboards, to find somthing that was "in there somewhere"
Ummm by the way....the philosophy and psychology behind the Flylady concept is interesting indeed, if we care to think very carefully about it..
At a rough uneducated guess, I would call this concept a method of.......wait for it........ "Cognitive Behaviour Therapy"
Oh.....having a lovely clean home and relatively tidy home does make life more relaxed and enjoyable with noticably less stress on a daily basis.
hehe .......... :D
It is remarkable the changes that occur with such small applications of timed work isn't it? I"m pretty casual about the routines they offer but our world is a much better place with it all.
Even if I only manage a small portion of what's suggested, I'm so much farther ahead it's hard to comprehend how I existed without it.
I'm by no means perfect in my application of the principles but man do I ever like how things look! I love having someone stop by unexpectedly!
My sink sparkles, my towels are fresh, I know when the bedding was last washed and the food management is so much more organised!
Have you managed to make up menus? I haven't but would love to begin to shop to suit the menu.
I can't do that yet though as I'm busy rotating the food out of the meat freezer. There is a burning desire to take the book case apart!
Cheers!

I"m pretty casual about the routines they offer but our world is a much better place with it all.9The same applies here Ian. I haven't as yet set a daily routine, however, I've noticed it seems to be evolving by natural progression.
Even if I only manage a small portion of what's suggested, I'm so much farther ahead it's hard to comprehend how I existed without it.Hear! Hear! same result this way Ian...... I have implemented a number of the suggestions and find the clutter is steadily reducing and my wasted time looking for lost items that are "in there somewhere" is reducing proportionally to the amount of junk I throw out.
The formula that has evolved for me, works like this
Less clutter and junk = easier to find stuff that matters=less wasted time searching through junk=more free time for enjoying living=less stress.
I'm by no means perfect in my application of the principles but man do I ever like how things look! I love having someone stop by unexpectedly!
My sink sparkles, my towels are fresh, I know when the bedding was last washed and the food management is so much more organised! As Fly Lady repeatedly states......
"Forget perfectionism, dont try to catch up whats already lost, just jump in right away and do this!........etc, etc
My sink is also sparkling, the shower cubicle is very clean, mould and scum free, my PC desk is a pleasure to sit at, it looks relaxing, smells like rich fresh timber polish and is just plain "nice and mellow"

Cheers! No, we haven't got as far as food menus as yet, but yesterday was a lovely day. Viktoria and I had a beautiful "guilt free" drive on the interstate highway to a bulk fruit and vegetable store about a hundred miles away and bought about a months supply of fresh fruit and vegetables at about 60% less cost than the retail price.
Our cupboards and fridge and freezer were all freshly cleaned out to be filled with our super cheap groceries. What we saved in food costs, easily covered the fuel costs for our vechicle on the 200 mile round trip.
We also visited a beautiful lake and laid on the grass, took photographs of each other, both of us together (with the cameras delay timer) and some birds, then purchased some KFC for dinner and had a beautifully romantic evening on the way home, that we will never, ever forget.
Today was all totally guilt free, and a magnificent stress buster for Viktoria and myself, as our home was relatively organised, clean and happy, courtesy of some self imposed dicipline and Flylady
cheers,
witsend 04-23-05, 01:45 PM I joined, I read-some, I can't drag my a** to get going though. I try to keep my sink/kitchen area mostly clean.
I think I got my son on his way to keeping his things picked up. I got him one of those blank teacher's incentive charts with all the squares & abunch of stickers--now he knows what he has to do to earn his reward.
Maybe this summer, when things slow down I'll make a conscience effort at being a Flylady....
I started with just the sink and then figured, what the heck, I can spare 5 minutes..heheh and then well, it has just gone on to better things.
The calm afforded by living in a better physical space would not have impressed me to hear about, but living in it is very convincing.
The crazy thing is that I bet on my best flybaby days, I only dedicate an hour over the whole day to the process. The results are remarkable.
Cheers!
