Ever felt really warm or cold when others felt that the temperature was just fine? Do you suffer from inexplicable anxiety or depression? Then you might have a problem with your thyroid gland. My doc made me take a test for my TSH levels a couple of times. The 2nd time all the results were just fine, but when I took it again, there was definitely something wrong with the results.

Upon doing some more research, I found that the results on your thyroid gland tests can be very related to your mood. And then I realized that the second time I took the test I was in a pretty good mood, but the third time I wasn't feeling very good at all.

Problems with the thyroid gland can very closely resemble the symptoms of ADD. I suspect that I have problems with both, but I just wanted to make sure you guys knew about this. If your medications aren't working well, this might have something to do with it

I had my Dr. check my thyroid and they told me it was normal at 1.2, with low being.7 and high being 5.3. To me that news did not make me feel any better since it seems I am below the medium number but my argument fell on deaf ears.

Oddly enough, I think ADD meds actually increased my cold tolerance. My thyroid levels were normal when I had my physical, though.

Hi Pure,

I've started a very similar thread over in 'DEXEDRINE , next door, entitled something like 'Lethargy'; the only reason I mention it here, is that there's a lady called Katatak who has posted to the thread with quite some useful advice, all borne from personal experience.

I agree Thyroid dysfunction and its potential confusion with ADD -- should be publicised.

I think that the thyroid test is a pretty common component of most blood tests - I recall seeing it on several past blood tests.
I would not worry at all about a value of 1.2 "Sweetmama". "Normal" is always a range of values, as everyone is different - the body has it's own way of keeping itself in equalibrium. Nobody has completely "normal" values for everything - if there was a person who had perfectly normal values across the board, it would be very abnormal!

The final report for my free T3 and T4 just got back... and they are in range. 1.4, 387 T4 and T3 respectively

this is frustrating. my test history has been like this : negative, positive, negative, positive

Oh, that happened to me all the time...just a little bit, up and down and up and down. At first I was taking small doses of Synthroid, but it didn't do much, so I just went "Eh, forget it" and for all I know I still go up and down like that, but heck, I ain't worried about it. (Glands do swell, though, in my neck...and the temp thing is really weird too, huh? Have the symptoms as we speak, but also haven't been eating or sleeping or...well, basically my homeostasis is not in stasis! So may or may not be the thyroid...)

Yeah...I have anxiety problems...but the Synthroid didn't do much good. Hope you have better luck.
