Do you HAVE to check the forum every day or do you just check it occasionally.

View Full Version : Compulsive Posting tudorose 08-18-03, 06:02 AM Do you HAVE to check the forum every day or do you just check it occasionally. waywardclam 08-18-03, 11:06 AM I'm on the borderline between have to and want to. I really, really want to. :D :D :D I've been on other forums for years, and if I go more than a couple of days without checking up on the messages I (might) have gotten, it really starts to bug me. Garry 08-18-03, 12:11 PM I like to check several times a day as I enjoy the fact that there is no one advertising at me trying to make me rich ect joanrdtobe 08-18-03, 12:18 PM Few times a day, I admit it....what can I say? I can think of worse things to be addicted to....I sorta glommed onto this thing while I was in school.....And now that I've made some friends here, I want to know how they're doing....:) InattentiveType 08-18-03, 02:30 PM When I'm focused on the board I HAVE to check it constantly. When I'm focused on something else I forget the board (or any other boards) exists and don't check back until it pops back into my mind. sleepzalot 09-03-03, 12:10 AM I'm the same as innatentive. When focused, yes, when not focused no. Sleepz. Keppig 09-04-03, 10:27 AM I have to say I *like* checking for messages and seeing what people wrote, its like being with your "kind" of people. I feel like I belong. Do I make sense? Jonathan 09-04-03, 10:39 AM If anyone is "have to" then I am, otherwise I wouldn't be here now (especially as I now have internet access at home again, but I'm at work now...). But I think I am essentially the same as InattentiveType and sleepzalot: my "focus" is slipping a bit (after a couple of weeks here), so I'll probably get out of the (compulsive) habit. Jonathan 09-04-03, 12:41 PM I suppose you must be focussed at the moment then, sleepzalot, considering the time it is where you are (assuming you're at home and given that you just posted, half an hour ago)! Should sleepzalot really be known as sleepzlate!? smooch 09-04-03, 12:54 PM I like to check daily, but the only web access I have is at work, so I usually have a lot of catching up to do on Mondays. Sometimes I become overwhelmed by the Forums...like Keppig said, I feel like I "belong" here and I've finally found a bunch of "my peeps"...but there are so many threads that I want to read and respond to...I can get overwhelmed and decide to procrastinate--"I'll read them later...." :D If I don't get that overwhelmed feeling, I tend to mull over a thread and my potential response for a while, and then go back and post...which I guess would make me a compulsive visitor to the Forums....? ;) Am I even on topic anymore? :) jimmmaaa 09-04-03, 03:03 PM I am compulsive about checking multiple forums and it has been afecting my work. At least I see it. why 09-04-03, 04:10 PM I am afflicted with compulsive reading, not posting. Jonathan 09-05-03, 05:59 AM A nice distinction, sir! I get annoyed with myself for wanting to contribute to various discussions, not doing so because I should be doing something else, but then nevertheless spending an hour (or several, possibly in repeated 10-20 minute chunks) reading. I usually end up posting something 'unimportant' (like the colour of my hair) because it doesn't 'count'. Absolutely daft! smooch 09-05-03, 09:48 AM Originally posted by Jonathan I get annoyed with myself for wanting to contribute to various discussions, not doing so because I should be doing something else, but then nevertheless spending an hour (or several, possibly in repeated 10-20 minute chunks) reading. Moi aussi! sleepzalot 09-05-03, 12:45 PM Jonathon, as a shift worker, I have no night time/day tme...and since at least a day has passed, can I do another post?...hehe And didn't I post during the day my time???? This time zone thing gets me at the best of times!! Sleepz. healthwiz 09-05-03, 09:04 PM I check a couple times a day. Its not a problem because I tend to check and read one or tow posts and then leave. There is usually something interesting. I read more than post. But when I post, its usually compulsively long. Brevity is not my specialty. Jon Jonathan 09-06-03, 08:40 PM Maybe not, but I have enjoyed your 'compulsively long' posts, J. I am checking the impulse to go and check 'em all, but I don't remember finding them rambling (unlike some of my own, sigh)... Jonathan 09-06-03, 08:45 PM sleepzalot, you keep on posting mate! I feel a mixture of disappointment and relief if there's nothing much new here when I check, but frankly the disappointment is greater. sleepzalot 09-06-03, 08:48 PM I too can say I've benefited greately from your long posts Jon. I love lots of detail so don't ever feel your posts are too long as I have read many of your posts; some many times due to information you have supplied and the help they have given me. Jonathan...you posts are cool too. Sleepz Garry 09-06-03, 09:13 PM Yes there is no real size limit to a post other than 4000 characters I beleve but if need use two posts If you need to say something thats what this is all about. If we as an audience decide you post is too long then we also have the choice of reading or not reading it I enjoy the long posts and oppinions of you all as it stengthens me in the knowalge "That We Are Not Alone in ADDland" Garry smooch 09-23-03, 12:49 PM I enjoy reading the long posts, too. This Forum is one of the very few places where I can take part in long, "deep," significant conversations (or at least read others'). I'm ALWAYS up for a stimulating, intriguing conversation. :D tudorose 10-23-09, 01:46 AM My vote on this one has changed over the last 6 years. meadd823 10-23-09, 02:07 AM My vote on this one has changed over the last 6 years.
