Sharpies are permanent markers I believe. A water soluble version might be wiser. The skin is pretty porus afterall and I"m not sure that permanent ink is all that good for the body.

I talked to my girls about doing me up in drag and they perked up considerably!

Have you combed the pictures thread in chit-chat? Someone we nominated may have forgotten they posted there.

I was thinking something fun that shows off their personality. i.e. take Garry's photo from his profile, and add the coffee, hair and slippers from his avatar.

Big also has an old photo of himself for an avatar...is it gone from the memory of this forum never to be retrieved? that pic with him in a pretty little bathing suit.

David used to have an avatar with his pic, head shot. We'll have to make him into an alien or something...the real brain behind this forum is not human. "ADDers: not just spacey, we're out of this world" (blah - not too unique there-sorry)

The two pictures posted so far, of Ian and David in drag, are extremely well done. They are light hearted and funny. Lots of humor has been generated so far as a result of doing the "drag" thing.

OK. Point taken. But what was listed on the Calendar was not for a family forum, and if I had put Andrew in a thong, I am sure I would have the word "banned" by my name.

Artsmart, have you any idea of the hours of work it takes to glamorize a person? It's hours and hours, and as I soon have to go and do real work, I am not going to have time to do that.

If you find it all so disgusting, might I add that I would find a male meat calendar equally as disgusting, because it would place males in the position where we women have stated that we hate for decades. Objects. That is MY boundary. I would have been willing to clean up their faces, and do them clothed decently as they were photographed, [a fast job], but not what is being proposed.

Perhaps you can download a copy of Adobe Photoshop tryout, and get to work!

When I came to this forum I immediately felt accepted and supported by the all of the women who frequent here.



After reading the posts by parents as well as the men,
I was struck by the different ways that each group approached their feelings and attitudes about the subject this forum was intended........


...........I have a compare and contrast nature and was just playing with an observation that was an honest portrayal of the way I saw a particular group...which happened to be the men, who are very articulate and interesting.



I am grateful that I have had a voice here.




Let me say gently that I am sorry Viktoria, and any others were offended. I can see there are hurt feelings. And I believe I believe I used a poor choice of words.


I didn't realize how serious you were in running the drag theme throughout a calendar for men.



I just did not intend for my original statement to evolve into something that I feel is offensive. An entire set up of these men in women's clothing says nothing about who they are.




I appreciate eyeforgot for placing the calendar topic on a different thread.




I never suggested a thong, and like the drag suggestion, I think it also would be inappropriate as a continuing theme.




I am not suggesting, nor would I ever suggest that you be "banned" for expressing your artistic talents.


Let me say that I am a liberal artist and very much appreciate the artistic process. I appreciate true talent and skill.......and I have told you personally how envious I am that you are able to do what you do.

After reading the posts by parents as well as the men,
I was struck by the different ways that each group approached their feelings and attitudes about the subject this forum was intended........

Yes, it was interesting and intriguing. I think a lot of laughter was generated in that thread.


...........I have a compare and contrast nature and was just playing with an observation that was an honest portrayal of the way I saw a particular group...which happened to be the men, who are very articulate and interesting.
I am grateful that I have had a voice here.

Let me say gently that I am sorry Viktoria, and any others were offended. I can see there are hurt feelings. And I believe I believe I used a poor choice of words.

Artsmart, please let me assure you, you didn't hurt my feelings in the least. I'm a lot tougher than I appear, and sometimes a great deal softer than I appear. No apology necessary!

I didn't realize how serious you were in running the drag theme throughout a calendar for men.

To be honest? I'm not serious. I would prefer to have them photographed naturally, and simply clean the pictures up to a good quality. The drag theme started with Ian being nominated in drag. From then on I thought it unfair to represent other males in a way that was more dignified.:rolleyes: I suppose I was attempting to care for the male ego's, and not make one male the bunny.

I just did not intend for my original statement to evolve into something that I feel is offensive. An entire set up of these men in women's clothing says nothing about who they are.

True! Very! But it is humorous to me, and not disgusting.

I never suggested a thong, and like the drag suggestion, I think it also would be inappropriate as a continuing theme.

Yes, I would agree here, but I do not want to make a parade of males as in "distasteful". All the photographs I have seen so far would have been very good left natural.
I am not suggesting, nor would I ever suggest that you be "banned" for expressing your artistic talents.

Artsmart, I think I might have been warned had I carried out some of the suggestions, and although I often walk a fine line to stand up for my beliefs, I didn't want to compromise my ethics by making men out as sexual objects.

Let me say that I am a liberal artist and very much appreciate the artistic process. I appreciate true talent and skill.......and I have told you personally how envious I am that you are able to do what you do.

I have to tell you something. Please download a copy of Photoshop. Artists are known to be the best graphic artists due to our color theory knowledge and theory of perspective. You would do equally as well as I in a short time because you are already ahead on non-artists. :)

Thanks for hashing that out. If we're on the same page now, maybe we can continue with the photos in the tasteful and respectful way we had originally thought of, by celebrating how much we appreciate the ADD Men of this forum.

We've certainly had fun with the drag. Nothing said needed a warning or a ban. It was pushing the envelope, but still OK. Nothing you wouldn't hear at someone's family reunion! (Uncle Vern certainly has some skeletons in his closet, eh?)

I wish I knew how to do photoshop, truly. I'd rather be helpful than a critic. But editing is what I do best. I'd love to see the pictures so far al' natural. Let's bring out the best in the one's we love. I'm sure there are things we can add to show off their talents, such as a quote from one of their posts perhaps, humorous or serious.

Maybe have pictures of the ADD calendar dudes while they are working.

It has been my experience, (atleast in my husbands family of 8 brothers all add) that there are certain jobs that were custom made for add/adhd types.

Such as construction, welders, painters, auto body, writers, trash haulers, artists, computer types, custom motorcycle designers, car buffs, etc.....

Each month can feature an add/adhd'er in a different trade. This would then be an inspirational calendar for those that have not yet found their add/adhd niche.

Just a thought....

I'd like to interrupt this thread :faint: to say that I am just overwhelmed by the character, caring spirits, accepting souls, and beautiful minds of all of the women I have met here. Viktoria, you are a doll, and I love you......as "loco" as you are.

They are divorced, lonely, self medicate with drugs/alcohol, no friends to speak of, and are totally in add denial. (plumber butt cracks and all....)

North Carolina is a little far for me to have to travel with my "non-properly-medicated" add brotherinlaws...so....I would suggest just finding the local drunk in your area and have them bend over for a picture by your van. I am sure there will be a big resemblance to our family portrait.:)
