View Full Version : Spell checker.
Ichpuchtli 04-29-05, 05:25 AM I can understand if you disregard this post but I think it would be nice for the site to have a spellchecker because my spelling is way way below average I have to go onto the net to get the spellings of words. So I was just woundering if it was possible.
Its being considered for the next major upgrade of the forums. :)
yupyup1128 04-29-05, 09:00 AM i would love a spell checker as well!:D
RhapsodyInBlue 04-29-05, 10:04 AM If you use Internet Explorer, you can download and install this tiny program. It will check your spelling after you have done your typing.

Just read the instructions. :)

I dont like the text boxes, I don't know what's wrong with them but they dont let me paste text in any browser other than IE.

I just made a quick switch between IE and Opera, and copy/pasted your reply with Opera browser. It works perfectly, but perhaps I have your meaning wrong? ~Viktoria

Good suggestion I think.
Hmm... maybe it's only netscape then.
stori813 04-29-05, 04:34 PM Is it spellchecker. spell check or spellcheck
If we had one I'd know LOL
As you can tell I really like that idea.
Hope its possible to get in the future.
Ichpuchtli 04-29-05, 09:21 PM WOW alot more people read this and replied then I thought.
Andrew when is this next major upgrade planed, can you give us a rough date.
adhdxyz 04-29-05, 09:28 PM As far as spell check, being the adhd person that I am, I type sooooooooooo fast and vigorously, and I can't wait to transmit my message, I just got to get it out there quickly so that you can all read it immediately and not a minute later. Even if I had spellcheck, I would probley be too impatient to use it. I do use it at work but usually not at home for emails or chats.
I had posted the below on a thread for "length of messages" or something but thought that since this was about spelling, I'd post it here too. It has to do with the fact that even if there are typos, people can still read it and understand it. (especially us add/adhd genius')
The paomnnehil pweor of the hmuan mnid
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae.
The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm.

Amzanig huh?
fasttalkingmom 04-29-05, 09:30 PM adhdxyz, fuuny ;)
Ichpuchtli 04-29-05, 10:37 PM yea but sometimes you spell a word completly wrong and people get the wrong message. I also type fast but I still would like a spellchecker.
adhdxyz 04-29-05, 10:51 PM Ichpuchtli,
I agree with you. I like spellchecker too. I just wanted to post my spelling blurb thing again to show those that really can't spell that great that we can still understand what they are typing so they don't need to worry. :)
If you look at most of my messages, especially the ones that I post as soon as I wake up in between getting the kids breakfast and off to school, I almost always go back and edit due to spelling typos.
On one message, my spelling was so off that it could have been mistaken as a different meaning like you mentioned.
On another post, I mentioned taking our 2 dogs for a walk. The words were **** blanked out because I misspelled the type of dog so badly. They are both Shih Tzu's and I have no idea what I typed to make the **** show up.
Anyway, can't wait for spellchecker.

Its probably a couple of months away...there is alot of planning and programming that has to take place. Check the news ticker for future announcements!
