I was wondering if medications will hurt kidney and liver functions if taken for more than few years, especially for children younger than 10 years old. Any idea?

In general, at prescribed doses, no.

There was an older med, Cylert (pemoline) that was associated with a few cases of serious liver problems, but that drug was pulled off the market years ago and isn't prescribed anymore.

It's true that medications in general (and ADHD meds aren't special in this regard) can sometimes lead to elevated liver enzymes.

If your child has a coexisting kidney or liver problem, or if you're concerned, you can ask the doctor to order lab tests for your child to check your child's liver/kidney function every couple of years, or if there seems to be a problem. This usually requires a simple blood draw and/or urine test.

But in general, there's no special reason to be concerned about liver or kidney problems from ADHD medications.

It won't hurt if you take prescribed doses only
