I don't know about the funny effects that taking my medication has on me, but the physical act of taking the medication is usually the funny part in my case.

Mainly because I always take it and then about 2-5 minutes later I cannot remember if I took it or not, so I have to dump out all the pills and count them to figure out if I took it or not (even number at dinner means I did, odd number at breakfast means I did).

The other night I went with out to dinner with this girl and I took it and couldn't remember a few minutes later so I ended up having to dump out all the pills on a napkin to count them (I'm impulsive, ABSOLUTELY HAD TO do it right then and there :p). She was giggling at me after I told her this happens pretty much every time I take it.

The look of confusion on the guy's face who was sitting at the table next to us was classic :).

Luckily you weren't counting out your Viagara's on the table while on a date :)

We used to do the same thing with my son's medicine. He takes several per day, several times a day. On weekends, my husband and I could never remember who gave what to him when because he wakes up at different times on days off.

The only thing that works for us is one of those cheap plastic pill holders. At night, I put his medicine for the next day in there. This way, atleast he won't be getting too much. We will definitely be able to tell if he got too little :)

Haha! Seeing as I'm only nearing my 20th birthday I hope I wont be counting Viagara's for a very, very long time!

I would love to use one of those pill holders to keep me on top of things. However, that would require a least some slight hint of structure and organization, and I'm severly lacking in those areas :(.

Good thing you count it...I od'd before! Not on amphetamines, but on my seizure meds...was taking--what was it, 300 mg of Lamictal twice a day? Can't remember, something like that. Took it, half hour later, took it again...hanging up clothes in my son's bedroom half hour after that and just *konk* fell down.

Didn't go to the hospital--too late by then. Just rode it out. Essentially I was like an infant. Not allowed to go to sleep, and such...not allowed to go and smoke, because I'd have to actually walk to do that...so I whined.

Not good. I was an idiot for like...2 days--and I was kinda doofy before that! Bad memory and all...wow. Ughhh...

I get the cheap plastic pill holders at the local dollar store. I have several. They are the ones that have all 7 days of the week and you can just take out one of the plastic rows for just the day and throw it in your pocket.

They work great for at home, and if we go somewhere, like to the lake for the weekend. I don't like bringing all the pill bottles (he takes several different kinds per day) so I just take what we need for the weekend. Plus if someone asks my son to go somewhere (like my sister or brotherinlaw), they can take the little pill case. I put a tiny piece of paper in the pill square with the time on it. Real easy.

Trust me, it does not require a slight hint of structure and organization, as I definitely do not have that. :)

I guess we did not really have a choice. He's 12 now but we did have 2 slight mistakes over the past 9 years regarding his medicine.

One day, on my day off, I had a million and one things to do. I woke him up, gave him his pills, breakfast, and got him dressed. (I am thinking he was 4 or 5). When I went to leave, he was sound asleep. Majorly sleeping. I had mistakenly given him a Clonidine instead of a Respirdal. The Clonidine wouldn't hurt him, but he does take it a night to knock him out. Needless to say, I had to postpone my errands and when he woke up, he was groggy for a long time.

The other time we messed up his medicine was just last year on his 11th birthday. We had such big plans. He and his cousins were going out to lunch and then gokart riding. My husband had given him his Metadate, Respirdal and Zoloft. Then my husband left to go somewhere. When I woke up, I gave him his Metadate, Respirdal and Zoloft.

When my husband got home and told me he had already given him his meds, I freaked out. I called the pharmacy, poison control and the doctors weekend exchange. The doctor immediately called back and said it was OK. His dosages are low enough that by doubling them, it wasn't dangerous, as alot of people take that much in their regular dosage. He told us to keep an eye on him and try to keep him somewhat calm.

I still freaked out and explained to him that he could not go to the gokart place because he was supposed to stay somewhat calm.

Oh well, this is why the plastic pill holders work for us.

I've had trouble remembering if I took my med or not too. I think thats very clever of you autopilot to have it all figured out how to tell if you've skip a dose or not!

They have all kinds of gadgets designed for senior citizens who can't remember medicine. Theres this kind of timer and that kind of timer- this kind of alarm and that kind of buzzer. The only problem would be how would you set the dang things? I'd need someone to figure out how to do that for me. I can't even set my VCR or radio once the time changes.

I actually have one of those timers! It's a little triangle shaped thing and it goes off every single day at 8:00AM and 5:00PM so I don't forget to take my meds. All I have to do is press the button when it beeps and it resets itself.

www.alrt.com is the website. The one I have is this one: http://www.alrt.com/B6/index.html

I couldnt remeber a couple of days ago If I had takin my morning dose cuz I hit the snooze button too many times. I ussualy will wake up, take meds, then go back to sleep for like 30min. Well I dient have to work so I sleep in more. I woke up so effen' grogy, I called a friend who assured me I HAD NOT takin my meds. That I sounded outta wack. I was scarred to take them tho for fear on an overdose! It was just me and my kid here. What would I have done? I def. need to orginaize my meds better. :eyebrow:

I'm not currently taking any medicine. I was on Concerta a bit back. My wife and I would ride to work together several days a week. When I was on Concerta she'd marvel at how "chatty" I was. Usually when I drive my mind isn't inside the car very much...
