Can anyone share their success stories with Home Schooling? *Where do you get your educational materials?
*Do you have to report your child's progress to the state?
*How does that work?
*Has anyone had their child go back to school (high school, etc) after home schooling?
*How was the transition?

My success story is my oldest son. He's now in tech school learning computers. My other soon to be success story is my next son who will be moving on to college next year. My youngest still has seven years to go, but well on her way.

Our school is based on research. We get workbooks from different stores as we see them. Then the kids find the information from the net, the library, our home library of inexpensive books we find here and there (rummage sales, library and school sales, etc.).

The only reporting to the state we're required to do is filling out a form every September and mailing it in. The only requirements our state has is that we teach math, social studies, science, reading, language arts, and health. We are also required to put in 875 hours a year.

I wouldn't think of putting the kids back into public school. They are doing so much better at home. My youngest son was getting failing grades in public school. He will soon be moving on to college, something I'm convinced wouldn't have happened had I kept him in public school. My daughter attended kindergarten before I educated her at home. She learned nothing there. All they did was play. She spent an entire school year there, and came out of it with only what I had taught her.
