I have moved this over from another forum and added a twist.

This is Tim's chosen tag after each of his posts.

"- Tim's incessant talking is wearing on all of us. (comment on 4th grade report card)"

How incredibly clever to take a negative and turn it into a positive that makes us all laugh. I liked the idea so much that I took a look at my old report card comments. Hope you don't mind if steal your idea..but that's a form of flattery, isn't it?

I could have picked many but this one best displays what our teachers put up with and is funny at the same time. I'd love to see others change their signatures in the same way. It would be a way of showing who we are and where we came from.

I wanna find out what my report cards say too! :)

I've been to 8 different schools before I graduated, and maybe that's cus I was so much fun that teachers wanted to share me with other teachers.

How altruistic of them! :D

Does not live up to potential. I can't even count the times I've seen that on a report card.

Considering I had a total of maybe five grades that were below a B until college (none of which were below a C), I think pretty much every teacher I ever had expected me to get straight A's. Maybe if I actually wanted to open a text book and study, but I could have cared less about wasting my time on that.

Report cards are hardly reflective of a person's intelligence. The people at the top of my high school class were some of the dumbest people I have ever met and yet I know people who barely got by with a C average that are extremely intelligent.

I have my report cards from 1st grade to 5th grade.
On the back of each one is a place for teacher comments.
For all four marking periods that year.
All four times on every report card the teacher calls me a "Daydreamer"
They say other things about a pleasure to have in class.
Well behaved all stuff like that.
Nothing about what type of student I am.
Other then to say I continue to daydream in class.

Too bad my teachers saw daydreaming as a negative.
It's also too bad they didn't know how to teach a daydreamer.

I still daydream.
Except now I daydream about things I want to do.
Then I go off and do them.:)

On my second grade report card it says that I'm incredibly intelligent when I apply myself. I apparantly had creative problem solving skills even then lmbo.

Scuro,

No problem. I have many more where that came from. :D

I would invite anyone else to change their signatures too.

I dig up the report cards again and add a couple more teacher comments.

Unfortunately, we all know that there isn't any medical test to diagnose AD/HD. Only historical information on the client. Report cards are extremely valuable in verifying the diagnosis.

I would have to find mine (mom's not the sentimental type) --but I had many w/ the "potential" comment too. Got held back in 6th--you think she just wanted me b/c I was such a joy to be around?:D

Yeah Tim, it was your report card comment that inspired me to reread my old ones. I used to dread getting those things. I have a very consistent history of daydreaming, error prone work, not completing work, and difficulty with language in my report cards.

You can say one thing for teachers and that is that they are pretty good at observing student behaviour...funny thing is they generally stop there. If the kid doesn't perform, well...IT'S THE KIDS FAULT..and another funny thing.. a fair number get mad at the student.

My personal favorite from my grade 4 report card:
"I suspect a strong streak of laziness that Greg tries to cover up with charm"

scuro Good point.
That's how my report card comments read like the teachers are blaming me for being a daydreamer.
And if I would learn to stop doing that.
Then they could teach me.

How clever of you Greg! I got a good laugh out of this one! I think my son knows how to play this game! He is quite the charmer too.

The only quote I could find from report cards that I still have is as follows:

"Needs to work at REALLY paying attention and getting involved."(7th grade report card)

I guess that whole attention thing does go back a ways!

hahaha i have to dig up my old report cards and see what was said, but I know the 'daydreamer' and 'potential' comments were yearly from beginning to end.
