This was listed on my year review at work-
"Due to distractability, Kassie's quantity of work is limited."

People are joking all the time here plus I have to answer phones during lunch time (we work through lunch typically) and I also have to jump to different computer since part of my job is technical support. And my boss doesn't understand why I am distracted. Sigh.

Yuck...yuck and more yuck....What do they mean by "limited"? Listen Kassie, did they say anything "positive" or "good"????

And is she aware of the so-called "distractors" that you have to cope with?

I was told I definitely know my job and that I was amazingly quick at learning new things (tell Kassie once and she knows it forever) I'm also fast if I don't get distracted. I think its the inconsistancy that drives them batty. (Isn't that our trait?) ;)
I did tell her about the office, but she thinks its my phone calls from home, My family calls me once a day.. that's it. Its fustrating because one of the noise makers is dating my boss. Sigh.
(Its allowed in my company)

Hmmmm dating the boss??? Isn't there a word for that??? Tell the noisemaker to shut her freaking trap.....:)

Anyway, well sounds like that there were a LOT of positives in the review.....right???

Yes Kassie

It sounded to me that there was a lot of positives

Mabee you could take the negatives and document why for a one month period and the attach them to you review and resubmit for a reevaluation

Put it back in there ball park as to why there are these distractions that limit you from becoming a much more productive employee

In a nice Political way of coarse !!!!

Just an update. I got the best compliment ever. One of the reviewers of my work performance, Ed, who said my quanity of work was poor, just told me today that he has learned somethings about me in the last month. He said he never saw someone with so much drive and energy when it came to drafting like he saw in me.

Let me expain something first. Two weeks ago actually 12 days ago, my company was told that for a project we are working on that we needed to have cross sections created. We would need to create 69 sheets worth of cross sections and we had two weeks to turn them in or loss the chance that the project wouldn't pass the Town planning board. Needless to say, this looked like an almost impossible task. For Sections of this quanity usually take a month and a half to do. With the detail they wanted. Well. I was asked to cut them.. my first time cutting sections. I was showed how to do one. And I cut them all, I edited all the proposed ground, I labeled them and created sheets for them. I did get a help putting in all the utilities. I added the houses. Well to make a long story short. I'm currently editing the last 15 sheets of the sections. We did it. We created 69 sheets of sections in two weeks. :D

Anyway, he also said he appriciated my level of detail and consistancy and that I never gave up on my task no matter how impossible it looked. He said we could have never made it if it wasn't for me. He said he wants to talk to my other boss and give me the rest of my raise immediately! How cool is this?! :)

GET THAT IN WRITING FROM HIM. If he says "write it up and I'll sign it," DO IT.

Hi again had my review again this is what it said:

"She has good AutoCAD skills and has talent to become a great CAD Designer, however
her listening skills along with distractions and interruptions affect her job from ability to do quantity. "

I have to listen better, not interrupt conversations, provide more space for engineers and learn to be patient. The good news is I got a raise and I don't have to answer phones again. The bad news, its my ADD holding me back. Very frustrating.
