I am the innattentive subtype adhd. Is this mainly a innattentive type release/ fixation or do the hyper ones like it too?

Ian

I'm an innattentive. I like the idea of fishing. :P Maybe now with more getting accomplished I can actually feel like I can take the time to do more fishing! Season opens shortly... I'll keep you posted. :D

Agree, I was recently reintroduced to fishing - I enjoy the heck out of it.

Although we catch and release. Some California fish make Blinky from the Simpsons look normal.

I'm surprised they can swim with all the heavy metals in their systems.

I have pulled out a few trout that where about 10 inches long but weighed about three pounds from all the heavy metals in the mine tailings. You have to be careful where you harvest your fish for food. I'm primarly inattentive type ADD and find the whole fishing experiance therapeutic. It helps curb the chronic boredom and restlessness that are halmarks of the inattenative type. Im with you Scuro, any day is a good day if you are on the water. Capt Kylos:)

I like to fish almost as much as I love to hunt. I have fished on the Amizon , the Imjum Rive on the border between N.& S. Korea, Costa Rica, Canada and all over the US. My favorite fishing is right here at home on the C&O canol. Great Large mouth Bass fishing.

I'm preparing for a fishing trip this weekend on the Ottawa river. You should see the focus and organization going into this one. I'll be spending a few nights in prep and generally being happy moving things around, testing stuff, and playing with my toys. Shopping for fishing gear and music are the only types of shopping that I enjoy. :)

Out on the water I'm happy, give me a wide open vista and the colours and sounds that nature brings on the water and I'm happy. Slant the rays of the sun and your heart can sense when it's fishing time. Top it off with a best friend, a cold beer, and a cigar....then you don't even have to catch fish:D! Best of all are those times when you get into a spell, the fishing is frantic, and all goes right. It doesn't get much better then this. That is one great thing about fishing, there is no right answer and even the best can be humbled.

Have a great time, I realy enjoyed my times up there about an hour north of Pembrook. I would fly up to a Lodge call, Pontiac and for 10 days relax but when it came to fishing it was all fun and work. very little time to relax untill the fishing day was over.

Hey DaveHawk, you mentioned that you have fished the Amazon, did you fish for Peacock Bass or did you go for something prehistoric like a Payara. Flyfishing on a exotic rivers like the Amazon or Zambezi, reeling in a Payara or King Tiger Fish on a medium wt rod is one of my reoccuring dreams. Capt Kylos

I was fishing for Peacock Bass, then things are monsters for bass ! I was in a town named Iecitos , where the 5 rivers join to forum the Amizon for 10 days on a mission trip and was able to get in some fishing. Ever try to fish from a dug-out conoe, it took me about 15 min's to get my balance and I had a blast. Didn't catch any , the waters were very murkey in the winter their and the river is at it lowest. Temps are around 80 to 9o deg's durring the day.

I think hunting and fishing require the same type of patient mindset. They need both careful planning and execution in order to be successful. When I fish, I am very much a hunter. I use both camouflage and bait. I lure my prey and I stalk it. I might lay in wait and ambush or hunt by sight. I might use a natural "blind" or flashing light to call them in. I am very much a hunter. Capt Kylos:soapbox:

Dont be sorry, i was just teasing you Capt :p

Well , ( cough, cough) it took some work from my ex boyfriend in order for me to get it.

First of all, i did not, well to be honest i forgot to put that darn lock on my reel. And when i fell the line go i gave a good movement backward to get a good catch with the hook, i kinda whip my ex in the face with the rod:eek: :eyebrow: :faint: ...well it was an accident  , and then the darn fish kept fighting like hell, and i was trying to make it get tired but not really like my ex wanted me too, so i guess the fish realize we were fighting about him lol,,,, it got worse that darn fish. Well after i treathen my ex to shut the hell up, or i would throw the ?%%?/% in th water and F?&k the fish.
So back fighting with the fish , i finally get it tired enough so we could get him caught in the net, well when my ex finally got the net at a few inches aways from the fish, i jerked around because i had a darn bee around my face, and again hit my ex in the face with rod, and he fell in the water because he was in not a real good position.

But we got the fish :)

Anyone wanna take me fishing ??

Digitl
05-28-05, 01:52 PM
That is what i meant about me loving to fishing, but not sure about the ones that do it with me :p :) . There is always something happening, because i do like to fish, but i hate the fish, i dotn like to touch it , or it touching me so i guess it does make interesting things to happen.

Want me to tell you about the time i caught an eel ( i think that it's how it's written) anyhow long snake like fish , that is just the most disgusting thing on the part the world....

When i saw i had caught it( i still remembered to not let the line go loose cause it gets all tangle up or something), i started screaming with the stupid rod as far away from me as i could  . But jeez when you starts to wiggle and run away from it the darn thing starts to wiggle also and the line starts to swing back and forth getting closer to you. Finally with whole the movement i was doing the darn eel caught up with me , and got a hold of my leg and turned around it like snake's do. :eyebrow: :faint: .

Pure stupid moment , i throw away the rod, for some reason i had thought that if i throw the rod the darn thing will go with it. Well guess what it does not, and now i have nothing to pulll this thing of my leg. Did i mention my ex was laughing is head off, and was unable to SAVE me .... .

He finally came to is senses, and helped me ... i have had nightmares not long after that experience... i am over it NOW :D Digitl; sounds like the 3 stugies - 1 LOL

>He is not the only one who laughed, I got a goot chuckle my self. LOL We use to as kid carry fire crackers with us to get the eels off. But let me tell you thay are a high $ dish in a restraint in Baltimore.

>My wife has a phobia with sankes I do also but contain my emotions a little better. But the way you sounded with the eel on you is probably about half of what my wife acked up when she even thinks their is a snake in the yard.

>When I was 5 and I remember running down the street to see all the kids in a small field. They were in a circle and I pushed myself through. When I got to the inside of the circle I was greeted by the sight of one kid with a hatchet chopping up a big black snake. He then picked it up with a stick, the snake looked like souage links and he through it, it wraped around my neck. I don't remember what happened after that. But My dislike for snakes has been great over the years. Only in the past few years by going to a friend house who raises snakes have I learned to accept them.
>2 weeks ago the mexicans from the marble shop next door came over with a 6' black snake on a stick to show me. It fell to the ground and they were about to kill it and I steped in and picked it up and walked it over to the trees and let it go. One of the mexicans was ****ed cause he wanted to kill it. I told him this is a good snake that helps keep the mice population down and if he wanted to kill a snake go back to Mexico and kill one. At that they left.
>What I hate though is fishing in my canoe and drifting under a limb with a big water sanke on it , freeks me out !

Digitl
05-29-05, 12:13 PM
I have a phobia of snake also  :eyebrow: :faint:

when i went to Nebraska, i was hiking with my friend and we saw this snake on the ground and it was not moving. My friend told me that since we were in autum the snake slowed down because of the cold .

I thought wow cool, so i got just a little closer to see it. It was a nice looking snake and not that big. Well YUP the freaking thing starts moving and beleive me , it was'nt cold cause it moved FAST. I just screamed my head off jumping up and down, freaking completly out. I felt the snake going up my legs for hours after that.

Eventho , i have some phobias , i am still more curious and i had never seen that kind of snake before.

Will i ever learn to stay away from wild life, probably not  :)

For me it's not '' When animals attacks'' it's more '' when stupid people get bitten .. :D

Has any one caught any Grayling or Artic Char out there? I managed to catch a few this last weekend and man are they fun. A fly rod is a must as the fragile mouth of the Grayling needs a smaller hook and both prefer flys. Both are excellent fighters and it took me 30 mins to land a large Char on my 6-weight fly rod. If you ever get a chance to fish for these high mountain fish you should. Capt Kylos.:D :D :D :D :D

I love fishing. My newest toy that makes fishing exciting is a kayak. I live close to fresh and sal****er and can fish both. The yak is just the right balance so I have burn some energy when I need to and when I want to chill out, I can just sit back and float on the waves.

I havne't had it happen yet, but it's supposed to be totally cool to hook into a nice striper and get taken for a ride.

Fishing is my favorite activity.

I love to surfcast off the points on Nantucket, MA and the Hamptons on Long Island. Tossing the plugs is active. Wading out into the surf and landing a big Striper or mean Blue Fish is thrilling. Man, getting into a school of feeding Blue Fish is amazing. They are aggressive.

Also like going for the game fish down in Mexico.

Inattentive ADD type here also.
Though I haven't been fishing in a while it remains one of my favorite hobbies. Mostly sal****er. About half of my dreams are around water. When I was a younger man I would spend countless hours with my castnet and floundering.

I've been fishing since I was a little kid growing up in Alaska, but only recently got my own fly fishing rod. It is a light tackle St. Croix and I hope to use it on my next trip up (I think the Alagnak river). That being said, I've spent most of my life doing spin-casting. Does anybody know of some good websites dedicated to fly-fishing?

It's almost fishing time. Here in the Northeast it's still cold. I'm in Pa, but in NJ the striper season opens March 1st. Best time to fish for them is at night, which means it will be really cold. Plus I'll be standing on top of a windy bridge. Yet I'm still looking forward to it.
