NOTE: This thread was split off from another thread where it was being questioned whether a person had ADHD. The discussion became focused on the issue of ADHD as a catchall, so I split it off since it no longer was of benefit to the member. I hope you can follow it.

Maybe you need help with your depression, instead of blaming it on ADHD. ADHD is not a catch all, for any symptoms you are experiencing. It sounds like you were getting help for your depression, but you are still dealing with your depression, and things not going well at home. Maybe, it would be a good idea, to get back on your meds, and talk to a therapist, to get help with the issues that you are facing.

Emma S,
Why blame it on ADHD, when it could be her depression, making her feel this way? ADHD is not a catch all!

This is not in an argumentative tone, but you are proving my point again, you get defensive towards anyone else having the possibility of ADHD.

I haven't said "you have ADHD" anywhere, there is no harmful member on member diagnosis in my post, but I gave different sides to the possibilities,Rakshi has mentioned the early symptoms, and the later on depression-which does not justify having the earliest signs.

Emma S-that's because you are using ADHD as a catch-all. You are obviously implying that she is to be diagnosed with ADHD without ruling out other factors. Like the depression, that she has. This is why ADHD is over-diagnosed..because people assume that any symptom that they have MUST be ADHD.

What about being bipolar? That carries a lot of same traits as ADHD. What about the fact that she is trying to make it on her own financially, has a child, and suffers from depression????? She is not on her meds, so she is experiencing the depression symptoms, again, This is why ADHD is over-diagnosed. It is becoming a catch-all, wihout ruling other factors out first..food allergies, bipolar, CAPD, lead posioning, epilepsy, can all cause ADHD-type traits.
