faceonmars 01-16-04, 11:09 PM I tried it. I had one of those huge Monarch Franklin Planners.. so big I never carried it around. But I did download this software, because I was using Outlook at the time as my 'all in one' app to organize my life. I thought that the integration with Outlook was a big plus, at least at Franklin's website it seemed to be.
I had installation problems on both my Windows 98SE and Windows 2000 Pro machines.. I tried both.. and after it installed on both, it ran buggy, with frequent crashes, freezes, etc. Usually it only affected Outlook.. except in Windows 98SE, where the entire OS would freeze, BSOD. Tech support was a joke, so I started reading newsgroups and found that others had the same experience, very common. I think Plan Plus for Outlook is buggy software. I used to program, I know how difficult it can be to write code for any Microsoft Office product, especially with so many updates, patches, etc.
I've abandoned Outlook for a lot of reasons, not the least of which are security related. But any kind of 3rd party software integration with Outlook is asking for trouble. I'm not Microsoft bashing, it's just the nature of Microsoft Office products.
Don't waste your money on this one, unless you get if for free and don't mind the crashes. If it runs smoothly on your PC, more power to you.
faceonmars 01-17-04, 12:12 AM Well,
in my fervor to bash Outlook, I was a little hasty, I've actually used, and am using, a 3rd party app that I"ve found integrates nicely for Outlook -- at least so far. Make sure your Java is up to date. Desktop Sidebar

is fun and it works flawlessly. And I've tried all the usual tricks to crash it. The one glitch I saw was when I tried to launch a java-based file sharing program, Limewire took about twice as long to launch as usual, but nothing crashed.
So, there are some good programmers out there!
addDani 05-03-04, 08:28 AM I just have to add my .02 here - I too had lots of problems with PlanPlus and Outlook playing well together. PlanPlus 1.0 and 2.0 are both buggy - although 2.0 is better. (I would have to classify PP 1.0 as "runs with scissors".)
I'm a software junkie, constantly downloading organizer/PIM trials in search of the perfect one. I thought I had a problem but in hindsight I see that it was a desperate attempt on my part to do something, anything, to get organized and keep up with everybody else. (Have I mentioned how relieved and grateful I am to know there's a place where there are others like me?) I was particularly drawn to software solutions that allowed me to visualize tasks in outline view. To me, PP not having this is a major drawback.
Other than those two things, I think PP is a powerful and feature-rich solution. Hopefully they will address these shortcomings in future releases.
Again, just my .02. Now I'm off to go check out the trial of Life Balance. Have I mentioned that I LOVE AddForums? So many good suggestions, so little time.....

Has anyone tried other Franklin-Covey software? I've been looking at FranklinCovey Planning Software 8.2 for Windows, but am not sure I want to spring for it right now (especially since my computer is acting flakey). They also have Forms Wizard software, which would be really handy IF it works well.
Oni Hebi 05-03-04, 10:01 AM Hey, that sidebar doesn't work with Outlook Express, phoo.

otherJohn 03-07-05, 04:16 PM Got Version 3 with outlook 2003 and no problems. This is some intense software!
FoggyPhil 04-05-05, 09:17 AM I'm using Franklin Covey's Version 3 for outlook too, and it is amazing. I haven't had any bugs or problems at all. I've used it both stand alone, and with an Exchange server. The thing I like about it the most, is that it contains a lot of training tools to teach Covey's techniques. I like how Franklin Covey goes beyond time management as a way to make appointments, and approaches it as a way to get your life together. I haven't been using it long, so I haven't integrated it into my routine all that well yet, but it is already helping. Taking the time to go through their multimedia wizards was a great experience. When I got through the mission and values sections, I was looking at myself from a positive point of view for the first time in a while.
KevinLietz 01-14-06, 01:41 AM Well you answered my question about Version 3....now does anyone know how to get it cheaper than 100 dollarS?
