View Full Version : Sickness help me asap.
Ichpuchtli 05-22-05, 06:30 AM Ok here is the thing, everynight when I get ready to go to bed or before if I have eaten dinner I get nauseated but I never seem to throw up. I hate so much I have given up eating dinner.
I know I sound like an anorexic but it stops the nausea. I have been getting this for the last 2-2.5 months and I have only just spoken to my mother about it. The thing is I don't know if it is a medical problem or a phycological problem that has been causing it. I havew occastionly taken anti-nausea pills, they are usally used for cancer pataints.
I was really hoping that I could get this out and that people would tell me what they think it is and not just read and ignor this. I am pleading with people for help here I acctully am seriously getting a stomache pump. Hellp or tell stories. :( :( :(
motorbrain 05-22-05, 07:11 AM Could be the results of acid reflux. You might have some digestive disorder ala Crohns disease or maybe even celiac disease. Or maybe your cooking just sucks. ;)
Go see a doctor. My dad had a similar problem and it was a polyp. Some one else I worked with had the same problem and I'm sad to say they have met their maker.
So make an appointment and if it's a simple fix - good! If it's not a simple fix then get a jump on it or it will jump you.
I sending best wishes your way as I can't afford the freight to send you a box of pepto.
Best,

I agree but I don't think a doctor can help with bad cooking, I've asked....hehe
I have acid reflux and so does both my daughters. My daughters both have complained here and there about this.
I've had this feeling when pregnant ;)
No water, soda, dairy or spicy greasy foods for dinner or close to where your going to go to bed. Raise your pilloews or the head of your bed so your not laying flat. Any antacid before bed have helped us.

I've been having stress related nausea at night and in the morning lately. It stinks when you feel sick even before your eyes are open.
FightingBoredom 05-22-05, 09:53 AM You are probably dehydrated!
If you are then it doesn't matter what you take, what you eat, or how calm and relaxed you feel.....your body can't deal with extracting the necessary nutrients from your food through your intenstines!
That's why you CAN'T throw-up. You don't have enough fluid to puke....but your body is trying to tell you to GET hydrated.
When I feel like this I drink at least 32 oz. of Gatorade.
I have no idea if that's available where you are...so, drink a quart of whatever you kind find that mothers give babies to balance their electrolytes. Then drink lots of water....a little more than usual for about a week.....then keep drinking lots of water every day.
Are you taking any medication Ichpuchtli (even pain killers/anti inflammitories etc) ?
I get the same problem quite often-after eating,as i'm taking ibuprofen and tegretol(an anti seizure drug) for trigeminal neuralgia.
Yes, indeed!
I had stress related stuff going on last December and I really got tired of that sudden urge to retch. Doing thngs to burn off excess stress helped a lot.

I am not dyhydrated I can confirm that I drink alot of water. I am not trying to be rude I just want to narrow things down so I maybe can get to the bottom of it.
I have made an app. with a doc this wednesday, only 3 more nights to go. My mother is getting the anti nausea pills so I will eat again. :( :(
wheresmykeys 05-22-05, 09:30 PM I go through periods of this as well and I end up barely eating for a few weeks..I think it is just stress

I understand what you are saying....and I could be totally wrong....or maybe it's only a small part of what you need.......however, I thought the same thing once. "I drink a lot of water so how could I be dehydrated?"
Except that when I was in the emergency room for what I thought was a heart attack last year they informed me that one thing I needed to be aware of was that I was dehydrated.
Dehydrated means your electrolyte levels are low.....not that you are all "dried" up. I've had two doctors educate me on this and even did some reading on my own....
if your electrolytes are low..... you can have some minor thing happening in your body that will present ADDITIONAL symptoms due to low E levels.....
Well, since you scheduled the doc appointment already, there isn't really much I can add. Nausea is such a common symptom of a lot of things, some serious, some not. The interesting things about your story is that you say it only happens at night, it's been going on a while, and you don't mention it being correllated with any specific foods. I am a bit curious if you are taking any meds, like someone else asked, too. I don't really know anything that fits that pattern of symptoms, unfortunately.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe some ginger ale or something. If it works, it's likely to be healthier than the nausea pills. At least you only have to suffer 3 more days.
Ichpuchtli 05-23-05, 03:31 AM I get a but of neusea after everytime I eat but I get over it in a couple of minutes to tell you guys the truth. I am on concerta after been on Ritalin LA. The doc said stop that until I see her.
I am eating tonight because I have some anti-neusea pills that I can take. I still would like this to stop.
Ichpuchtli 05-25-05, 04:02 AM HI I had the app today and now I am stopping my meds for 1 week to see for sure if that was not the cause. I would like to thank all who helped, but I have one more question, if it is not the meds and it is some kinda medical disorder what are the treatments?
KnittingJunkie 05-25-05, 07:03 AM Well, here in the states I have severe acid reflux (really sounds like you might have acid reflux, though I wouldn't know the severity--I've had this since I was 9.) I'm on 30 mg of Prevacid. Sometimes we have to supplement it with other stuff, though, because (this was pre-amphetamines, too, so it's not blamed on that) I was aspirating vomit (vomiting in my sleep and choking on it, and inhaling it into my lungs.) :faint: Gross, yes, but true. If it's not your meds, you have to take it very seriously. Stomach ulcers can be quite dangerous.Chrys
Ichpuchtli 05-25-05, 05:50 PM Did you get headaches before it because I do then I feel dehydrated then the sickness comes about a minute after.
Ichpuchtli 06-05-05, 09:11 AM Ok the only reason I back on the forums so late is that it has comeback pretty bad toninght after such a brake.
I went to see a doc and I am going to get a blood test and a poopy test. I feel so alone with this.
Any help or support plz.
