Ive recently discovered that I have the inattentive type of add. Ive been going to a phsycologist and will see a phsychiatrist on Tuesday. For the last two months I have had more self discovery than I have ever had in my life but I feel like I have a long way to go. The way that I cope is by trying to keep things as simple as possible. The problem is life never seems to stay simple for long. When I have to deal with added responsibilites life becomes very stressful to me. Bills, laundry, dinner, getting the kids ready. These things seem simple enough but they arent for me. The only way I can explain it is that my thoughts are like a pinball machine, bouncing from one to the other and the are almost to fast for me to catch them. My pshycologist has been helpful to a degree but I need to hear from people like me. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

Welcome! As a new member of the site I can tell you that if you just bounce around the pages you will find a large amount of information that will hopefully help you as much as it has me.

Haniac, welcome, I know what you mean and many in here do also. Kind of fell like a pinball wisard ? Been there. I own a antique restoration sho[p and sometimes have 15 or more projects going at once and never seemed to get anything done. When I needed something for one job I would see another and focus on it and so on throught the day. Med's stopped all that and helped me focus. Takes time to settle in but once your acklamated to them they will hopefully help you.

"Help me feel normal".....I understand that completely. I have inattentive ADD also and it seems like simple things take twice as long they should. When I'm trying to run errands or get things done at home, it seems that I get halfway through, and then suddenly something else seems more important and I want to switch gears. I have difficulty with prioritizing. Is that how it is for you too??

Resounding "Mee Too!"
I just found out why I am like this and I am 44.
There is a good book called Adventures in Fast Forward; Love, Life and Work for the ADD Adult, by Kathleen G. Nadeau.
And also Women with Attention Deficit Disorder, by Sari Solden.
Welcome.
